    Hi guys

So I'm trying to upgrade the ram in My m17x r4 the one on the back (dimm 1&2).

However there's currently nothing in there (as my 2x4gb are under the keybaord)

My problem is when I try spreading the clips apart to insert the ram... The slot doesn't pop up :(

I've even tried gently pressing inwards in case it was stuck...

    No luck still however

Am I not doing something right?? Is there a screw or lock holing it in place

    Please help me

    Thanks

    Gremlin

Im kind of confused. the ram should be inserted first at an angle, then you push the ram down towards the motherboard and the two latches should lock in each side of the ram. The RAM slot does not pop out or anything.

    Yes I know

But it's not releasing at an angle... When I pull apart the latches... No matter what I do...
Hence I can't insert my ram

    Any ideas why?

So you are trying to remove the RAM you have already in there? In that case pull them apart gently and lift the RAM up. Sometimes you have to pull the latches apart a good amount. There should be nothing else holding down the RAM so give the chip a pull once u have the latches spread apart

Annoying thing is there is currently no ram in the slots I wish to inset into...

When I pull the clips apart it doesn't pop up,
How much force should I apply to get it to pop up on an angle

If there are no ram in the slots, all you need to do is put the ram in at a slight angle WITHOUT pulling the clips. The once its in the slot, push down on the ram and it will automatically seat itself between the clips. its very simple lol

As the others above have stated you shouldn't have to pull on anything if there is no RAM there already. Adding RAM should be a very quick and painless process. Perhaps take a pic and upload it for us? maybe there is some damage that went unnoticed when it was shipped?
