Every time I try to change around a folder in the Windows folder, it says that I require permission from someone else. I deleted my old account and made sure that I was the supreme administrator and such. That made no difference. I ran a couple of registry repair softwares and that didn't help. I'm not sure what to do. I just want to edit the defaultbackground in oobe in system32 so I can change the Windows default login screen to one of my liking. Help?

if you right click "computer" from the start menu and go to manage--> expand local users and groups--> select Groups--> and then open up administrators, are you listed in that list as a local admin? If not, add your self and reboot.

I just used a utility to try to fix my permissions errors I was having and now I can't get past the BIOS screen. All I can do is get into the BIOS. Would it help if I set the BIOS back to defaults?

Edit: doing that did nothing. HELP!!!

    Windows recovery?

Set bios to boot to DVD, put Windows DVD in and attempt recovery?

Or start hitting F8 when you turn your laptop on and go safe mode or attempt recovery.

Can't press F8. Can't boot from my Windows Disc. If my motherboard is dead... I'm gonna flip.

The most that software could do is break your windows files and not let it boot.. There's no way it could affect your motherboard.

Should I maybe switch from AHCI to ATA or RAID? I just installed a new hard drive to replace my old second 500gb 7200.

keep it on what setting it was on when you installed it. If it got swapped, it could keep windows from starting ;)

New problem. Since I got it fixed my secondary 500GB hard drive doesn't show up in disk management or device manager. It shows up in the BIOS and in Intel Rapid Storage Utility, but nowhere else. This drive used to be assigned to D. Now my disk drive is assigned to D.

Why the hell did you use a third-party utility for this in the first place?! All you have to do is disable User Account Control! (You know, the thing everyone's been doing the very first time Windows boots up, since Vista?)

Control Panel - User Accounts - Turn UAC on and off. Done.
