REQ Help~Alienware M17x Carrying Case

For all those who don't want to be bored by the Details, just Skip All this and go to the final Sentence:

I Recently Purchased a Alienware M17x-R2 because i'm going into Digital Arts and Animation for my admission into college. Since i already have a powerful custom made Desktop computer at home, i plan to take this Beautiful machine with me to college every day, which came up with the problem of, how will i transport a $3k Laptop with me every day and surivive the horrors and dangers that accompany a person who is very Rough? (As is everyone who is from NYC) so i spent my entire Winter researching which laptop Case i wanted. i looked into Messeger Laptop Bags, but it seemed too flimsy as a tend to knock into things in a rush (People Especally, This is New York we're talking about). i Looked into a briefcase, but the problem with that would be to hold it for a long period of time. Besides, Everyone who owns a M17x knows it weighs more than 2X a Standard 17 inch Laptop. I'm also very forgetful; should i leave it down to rest my hand, i might forget it. i Decided on a Mixture of both. i wanted an Steel or Aluminum case with padding that included a Shoulder strap (and the fact that it must be built like a Tank is a necessity), but as i searched harder and harder, i couldn't find such a product existent anywhere. i looked long and hard on every luggage and Laptop case carrier out there but i couldn't find one that would fit a M17x. Then, out of Pure luck, i found This Case.

It was then and there that i Thought "I MUST GET IT!" and thus began my long and Vigorous journey to find such said case. I tried to order it online, but everywhere i ordered from said it was out of stock. (Amazon, Datavision Computers Made me wait 2 weeks before informing me that they were out of stock) I've been to every Bag and specialist (B&H,Altman Luggage,Chinatown Backstreet Dealers) that deals with cases to find it, but to no Avail. Then, i found this website that noone has ever heard of....at first, i was desperate. i kept thinking, i need this...so i decided to trust it (Leap of Faith) and Purchased it Online. I already planned and decided what i was going to do with the case after i got it too (Was going to spray a Lime Green Biohazard Logo on the case,It'll Look ABSOLUTELY STUNNING & MTA-Police would have a Field-day with that). I was Ecstatic, i quite literally Couldn't wait for it come, and when it finally did came, i ripped the box open and tried out my newfound prize without a care for the world. i inserted my laptop into the case and quite literally, nearly cried when it fitted perfectly in.. But dispair soon hit me, as i tried and realized that my Charger and Mouse that came with the laptop, didn't fit inside. i Wanted to cry, i Wanted to scream. i just couldn't believe my rotten luck. Was my Journey for such a laptop case futile from the very beginning? is there really no point in me doing any of this at all in the first place since such a case could not even Exist? Here i am with a Laptop case that i had to wait 2 months for, only to find out that it doesn't fit in everything i need... What Should i do? With College approaching fast and me needing a carrying case for my portable workstation, i need to find some sort of way to carry my laptop To and From College every Day, Awhile Suriving the Possibilties of horrors (to a laptop) that might happen on a every day life Situation in the Big city. So i'm asking you...The Alienware specialists of this forum to please help me on my quest to find this perfect laptop case. You being owners of M17x-R2's, Please help me Find this Case.

Is there a Heavy Duty Aluminum or Steel laptop case that has a shoulder strap and can store a M17x Laptop With the Charger & a Gaming Mouse for Everyday travel awhile protecting a $3,000 Laptop from any kind of physical Harm?

 

Yes, it will protect the laptop unless you carry it everyday or you'll find yourself imbalanced from one side of the shoulder. (kidding)

 

Well, dear Brooklyneer, I will recommend you (understanding quite well what you're talking about regarding NY, NY roughness and rudeness...) to search for a Carbon Fiber laptop case...
There are some manufacturers that can offer a variety of solutions. Even custumize one for you. In any case, much lighter than steel or aluminium.
The prices can range from stylished ones (if you can afford it for your near "stradivarius" Alien... with fine leathers... (about 2,500 British pounds!) to more accesible ones (about 250 ~ 290 U$A)...

i Got the Matias Armor Laptop Slim, 14 Inch to 17 Inch. the Extra spacing isn't enough for the charger nor my x8 Sidewinder Mouse.i tried pushing it in, but was afraid of damaging my Alienware. seriously tho, it doesn't fit and i'm really pissed off at it...Good Case tho none the less, i really do feel like i can drop it from 10 ft and it'll still be fine..by the way, i checked your websites, it seems that all of those are Clamshell Cases, i'm looking for something more....."Briefcase-ish" Made of aluminum, Large enough to accommodate both my mouse, Laptop, Charger and any other Extra Materials i have. Many of those manufacturers of Carbon Fiber cases, can make it custom according to your specifications... They are willing to do it since they are enteringt the market. Try to contact them and ask for the "Briefcase-ish" case you're looking for. Give them clear specifications about the compartiments, the meassures, etc. you need.
I have seen many of those cases (maked under clients specifications). They are very resistent and much lighter than aluminium (or steel). I'm not sure if they are more resistent than titanium cases... but I'm sure that, comparatively, they will be significantly cheap

Since this looks to be an older Alienware product, have you tried contacting AW sales? Looks like it came with the M7700 back in 06? That case looks awesome. I'd be interested if we can find it.

 

oh dear, my old reply got an infraction....shouldn't have bleeped out those letters. anywho, i contacted Alienware for the actual product and it seems that the respresentive says that there isn't any. his exact words is "i'm sorry but we don't offer that product anymore, please look into the other products that we carry at this link: blah blah blah" For those who don't know what product i'm talking about, here's the link. the intresting part is that it's just as big as the Matias Armor laptop, but 2X bigger in Width so it'll fit any extra stuff you have that you add to it. in my case, a charger and a mouse, and some removable harddrives.
LOOK AT IT! ITS SOO BEAUTIFUL....i wish there was someone from the UAE or saudi Arabia that can order this for me...

I have the alluminum alienware marked case just like the one in your link except mine is polished aluminum. I originally got it for my m5790 and it fits my M17xr2 perfectly aswell, the case has protected it very well but its to flashy and i dont like attention attracted to a 3k computer so i dont use it that often.. None of the chargers would fit in the case with it, i usually just put that in my backpack.

 

Congradulations, you have invoked my Jealousy as well as my Fury. you have such a beautiful case and yet you don't use it? wait...hold on, may i possibly purchase it? how much did you purchase it for anyway?, wait hold on, None of the chargers would fit into it? what do you mean by that? the case has 2X the size of the Slim case, i already have that and know that if i have extra room or clearing, i should be able to fit whatever extra items i have inside...

 

Maybe, here is an option: an XXT 20" aluminium executive "Briefcase-ish" laptop case... So, beside a 17" laptop you may have enough space for the 'brick' and a full rat... sorry I mean mouse...

Yea, i looked into that, but it seems that it still won't fit because of the height (3.5"), since it's the same size Interior as the Matias armored laptop. i thought about getting the This one~

but the size still won't fit for the M17x-R2 since the interior dimentions won't fit. it's the nearly same as yours actually. But still won't fit the laptop with charger and mouse..

 

I though that having 20" it can fit the laptop and the charger and mouse on its side instead of on top... So, I give up... and will wait couriosly to see what you can find...

 

Huh.....i Never thought about that...Seems to make sense, but the fact that the Charger is the size of a DVD Case wouldn't seem to fit into the Case that you mentioned, even with the extra room.

This might fit..no it won't...okay, let's get a couple of things out of the window...The alienware's dimentions are W)16.1" (D)12.6" (H)2.1" and most of these cases don't have enough room for the Charger and "Rat" (i ment mouse) Unless there's 4" of clearing which means that the case Height must have at least 6" total....
Okay, look, the Matias Laptop armor SLIM (14"-17") is 18.87” x 15” x 3.46” and that's already fits the laptop but the laptop alone only. now if i'm going to include a mouse, it needs to be Wider in that aspect to place in the Rat (Mouse) and Charger. The laptop case i mentioned earlier only has the dimentions 18" x 13" x 4.5" so having a 1" Height clearing won't fit change the difference for the rat (I MENT MOUSE!), as well as having problems for fitting the laptop on Width Wise. God, this is such a difficult problem to solve..

dude, lay off the "double-caff venti espressos with a red bull chaser" for a couple days and catch your breath...

if you want a briefcase, look into Pelican. Many thousands of miles on my pelican gun cases. A laptop in NYC should be a piece of cake.

another idea would be a backpack - can't forget it, won't end up like a hunchback and it moves with you so you don't have to worry about it getting bumped and banged about (one does protrude off your back so you can pop somebody when you turn in close quarters but....).

 

Sorry about that..just really active in finding Laptop case.. been 3 months since i started the search... and just been one diaster after another, and i'm starting to get ticked off..i did look into pelican cases, but those are made of high impact ABS plasic, i'm looking into something more...Aluminum or steel-ish case, that way, i can spray or add Vinyls onto the case and make it just look totally Awsome. besides, something about Pelican cases seem like it's carrying something..Dangerous, awhile Aluminum cases just seems like it's carrying something...important...and i really pride myself in looking professional, espeically with cases...Infact, i'm still looking into Cases right now...

well, if it's a painted look, you can paint ABS and stickers aren't transparent. No sense limiting yourself...

But if you want elegant, get a Zero Halliburton. If it's good enough for the President's nuclear football, it should be good enough for you....

 

Tried looking for a Zero Halliburton, Went to Altman Luggage (NYC Luggage specialists) and even they don't have one that fits properly.. i thought about getting High Impact ABS and Leather cases.. but something about that special Shiny-ness that comes from Aluminum that just makes it soo darn Attractive.....and Shiny....ugh..i'm going to sleep...been looking at luggages all night... i should get some rest before i start consider buying a Rifle Case for my Laptop....i'll post up any other intresting cases i see, but for now, i still want this one~

Regarding the rat, no offense intention: The preference of my hand (and me) is toward a full sized mouse... so it's more a rat than a mouse...
My prefered one is a "guinea pig" (since it's wireless, this "pet" is big than a mouse and have no "tail")
And, even better, when my children where young they love and laugh a lot when I call it my Guinea Pig...

What if you can get a customized "Briefcase-ish" lapto case, with the meassures you define, with the pockets, spaces, etc. for power bricks, mouses, rats, guineas pigs, etc. "as you like it" (as Shakespeare would say), and even with a 3D Alien name or maybe a 3D Alien logo on it, whatever 'as you wish it'?

I just got an e-mail from one the laptop cases manufacturer (since I'm thinking too at the options) saying that they can help you in this kind of personalized and tailored alien mission (I'm sure that other manufacturers would like to do it as well).
I quote him: "We can build anything you want. I would like to get more information from you as far as specific requirements. Please feel free to contact me directly on my cell at ... -...-.... " (as we are not supposed to help advertizing here, PM me and I will send you the address and phone number of the manufacturer).

Then after you hear the different possibilities (and costs) from one manufacturer, I recommend you to try others as well to get a clear picture of you options...

Remember, aluminium will add more significant weight to the mamouth M17x... Again, carbon Fiber is significantly lighter and can be molded and shaped (as an aluminium executive briefcase) and if it can make the resistence of modern airplanes and fighters... So, being wise with your needs and with you back and shoulders, give a chance to your imagination to guide you into the aliens world! ( But keep foots on mother hearth...)

I Thought about getting a Custom Made case, but i wana keep the costs lower than $200 and if it it adds up to more, i don't think that will do. besides a gun case seems really cool for a M17x-R2....wow, i gotta lay off whatever the heck it is that i'm on.. but i digress, it has to be aluminum, i don't really care about weight since i'm used to it (Used to carry entire sets of Encyopedias to and from pre-school). it has to be black aluminum cause it's soo Shiny...and professional~ message me about the information regardless since i wana know if it's possible for them to have this all done for less than $200.

 

Okay...so let's State the obvious... i currently have in my hands a Matias Armor Laptop Case Slim (14"-17") and it won't fit a charger as well as a mouse. The actual Dimentions of the Case is 18.87” x 15” x 3.46”, and the problem that's persisting is that the Height of it at 3.5" is not enough. Should i intend to have this case, i need a minimum of an extra 2" which would bring the dimentions total to 5.5" height... now the case posted Earlier is perfect in size as well as protection, but the problem is that i can't recieve it since it's only allowed and shipped in the arabic nations. that being this specific model:

Huh, a built in Cooling Pad...that's cool, but not what i'm looking for~None the Less, i don't think that would fit a M17x-R2 since they're made for Standard laptops and what we have in our hands gentlemen are Custom Made Laptops, the Thickness, Size and Weight are all different than standard laptops.
