I just got one m17x from the outlet for my friend who is now in Japan. According to the spec sheet it shows:

    9PHFF Module,Liquid Crystal Display,17WUXGA,Light Emitting Diode,M17XR2

Is this the RGB LED? I'm sure I saw RGB in the description before I ordered it. My friend is questioning me because in Japan, Dell offers WUXGA 1920 X 1200P display in WLED only. I'd like to know if this is indeed the RGB display or did I screw up? :(

    EDIT:

I got the acknowledge mail and it lists:

17 Inch UltraSharp WUXGA (1920x1200) RGB LED Display

This is totally different from what shows on my new order so I am really confused if I got the RGB or not.

On my R2 order confirmation email it lists:

    320-8856 17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 RGB LED (1200p)

On my previous order that I cancelled on my R1:

    320-8141 17.0in. WXGA+,LCD,ANW,M17X

According to both, the first set of numbers is the item number.

That's what I got also on my new order, but the system in question is from the outlet so it's different. Thanks for your input sefirothe. :)

On my original service tag, it's

8WG28 Module, Liquid Crystal Display, 17WUXGA, Light Emitting Diode, M17X10

I'm getting it replaced, and service call detail says

    0CWMH ASSEMBLY..., LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 17WUXGA, RED/GREEN/BLUE..., M17X10

Thx Achilles. I did some search and found out 8WG28 is for a dual core m17x.
Anyone with quad core m17x r2 please enlighten me?

Edit: Achiles, please do tell if your new rgb is any different than your current one. Thx!

8WG28 is valid for the quad core i7s. It's the same part number that I got in my build, and my M17x is only a few weeks old.

I've had a few m17x in my cart. Only the dual core models had 8WG28 and quad cores /w 9PHFF. I really hope I got the RGB. It's going to travel all the way to Japan and don't want to disappoint my friend, and not to mention it took me hours to get one in cart. :(

    Hi theres,

I had the exact same fear as you a few weeks back. I was confused as well so I rang dell about 3 times then they rang me back a few times. All turned out well though.

230-11587 17.0" UltraSharp? WUXGA (1920x1200) RGBLED Display with TrueLife? 1

The 9PHFF is the RGB LED monitor and ur 1st post looks to be exactly the same as what I got with my new machine a couple of weeks old now. So it should be all good.
If you can just to comfort yourself give dell a ring to confirm. I know I always like to find out just to be sure to be sure eheheh. :)

    Cheers.

Thank you reborn. Your comment puts me at ease. I still don't know if I should open it to check or send it right away as is(I'm sure my friend would want to be the first to open it). Tough situation.

You can always just goto Device manager and right click the monitor and goto the details tab and select Hardware ID from the drop down menu it should say SEC5443 which is the Samsung RGBLED

Yeh all the monitors will give that same code in device manager.

I have both R1 and R2 and the only way apart from looking at the screens side by side to tell the difference is if you use HWiNFO32 or ASTRA32 to show you all the monitor hardware ids, make model number and manufacturing dates.
Also of course it will tell you whether it is RGB LED or CCFL.

    Cheers.

Ummm lets see. The hardware ID on this shocking old screen ey :D ;)

Man it is such an embarrassment this screen now when looking on the R2's one LOL. I swear there must be a blown backlight or something eheheeh. Its just so dull even on full brightness settings. ;)

2 secs gotta do some digging. I had some pics of both on my other thread. Also joker gave me his hardware id info last time too.

    Jokers Screen info = K1NFP170CT (SEC5443)
My R1 = Laptop Forums and Notebook Computer Discussion  2008 Ancient times LOL ;) :D

My R2 = Laptop Forums and Notebook Computer Discussion

Monitor Model should give you the numbers and ID.

Whats yours chiefs? The same as Jokers I'm assuming?

    Cheers. :)

I know HDinfo32 says it's RGB color, but even my M11x which is only LED, not RGB to my knowledge says the same.

My M17x shows the same btw.

Ah true true. Yeh I think that might be the reason Joker recommended ASTRA32 to me last time. To get more info and a proper reading.

    Cheers.

I just added a system /w 920xm in my cart for fun and it lists 8WG28 as RGB. Why does Dell have so many different part numbers for one item? So confusing.
