At the moment I‘m trying to get an RX 480 4GB working in R3. But after Driver Installation comes Code 43. seller said I have to flash another Bios. But I can‘t find a appropriate VBios.
    Anyone an idea?

Maybe you should contact @SMGJohn who has also had some experience with that gpu in one form or another.

I need to know if you use eDP or LVDS panel.
And what Windows do you use?
Its pretty important regarding which vBIOS I give you.
But the fact it posts into Windows means its compatible.
Where do you exactly get code 43? BIOS or inside Windows?
And where did you buy your RX 480 from, Eurocom?

Hi, I’m using 1600x900 LVDS. But I have also 1920x1080 eDP Display. Windows 10. And the Code 43 is shown in Devicemanager after Installation.
This card comes from a company in the east of Europe.
If it’s possible, can you give me a VBios that it can also work in an M18X R2 and AW18?

I will give you the right vBIOS when I have the possibility later today or tomorrow.
Remember to backup your current vBIOS in case it fails, and you might have to reflash.

Sorry I just got back to the Hotel a few hours ago, but I have compiled the ones I believe you need.
Do keep in mind using Rx 480 with the LVDS panel is going to cause some pretty heavy performance penalties, up to 20%
I recommend using eDP but before you try that I suggest you try to flash either of the WX 7100 vBIOS as WX 7100 vBIOS are only one with eDP support I believe, one has 1250MHz on the memory, the other 1750MHz, depends on which you want as they are different TDP.

If you rather keep the LVDS I recommend either of the Rx 480 vBIOS depending on which type of memory you have on the card, Samsung or Hynix.

Just ask me if you run into issues, use only Radeon Pro Drivers with WX7100 or you run into problems with the eDP panel in Windows 10 with the Radeon drivers.
I also recommend you try older Radeon drivers as well if you fail after flashing the new vBIOS.

Ok. But WX7100 has only 8GB Ram. My RX 480 has 4GB. Is that a factor?

That does not matter at all, what matter is the memory type because they run at different timings.

Then try the 1750MHz WX 7100 one, you can always OC it later on with Afterburner

Yes, it worked. But after restart it gives me a Blackscreen. Also with eDP Display. And in AW18 card is not shown in Bios.
    And now?

I think he has one of the newer rev RX 480's, a couple have popped up on TB that state they support LVDS and only have 4GB.

Did you try the other RX 480 vBIOS that I included?
Card not showing in BIOS is pretty normal in most cases with newer GPUs.
This RX 480 vBIOS do not support eDP at least in my experience, you can still try it though if you disassembled it already.
Do you know what brand that RX 480 is?

Most RX 480 I know of only support LVDS duo to vBIOS limitations but the PCB is the complete same as WX 7100, only difference is the BIOS chip and memory and of course the die chip GPU itself.

Because RX 480 does not support eDP mode, only SG mode, but WX 7100 works in eDP?
Does the drivers install and everything?
You can try the game drivers if you do not mind using only 60Hz

What you mean? Screen is black even in BIOS boot sequence?
Or only when you boot into Windows?

Try this method through DOS if you cannot boot into Windows no matter what.

So I have the Solution. I installed the RX 480 in an Medion Erazer X7825(MSI GT70)
There I got a picture and in Windows shown as 480 with Code 43. I flashed your 480m 4GB VBios. After the restart Driverinstallation was fine. I benched the card with Unigine Superposition in 1080p Extreme and it gave me 1994 Points. I think it‘s better than a GTX 970 and 1060 Desktop. Even better than 980M. Curious is there it is shown as RX 470/480/570/580/590.
And one problem is left. In idle fan is normal, but at load the fan jumps in one second at max speed.
Later I will try again in M17X R3 and AW18

Update: RX 480 is not working in AW18 and M17X R3.
Tested also in Clevo P177SM-A. It‘s working but fans always on max. Maybe someone has a modified Clevo Systembios to get it working

But with WX 7100 vBIOS it works in the Alienware?
Interesting it will even boot in a Clevo, can you not control the fans manually in the Clevo?
    I know I could in my P150EM.

No, with WX7100 Bios always Blackscreen in M17X R3. No post, no bios, no windows.
In AW 18 no chance. I have the latest unlocked bios but card is not shown in bios or in windows.
How you controlled the fans in the Clevo?

Odd, you should be able to control fan speed in your Clevo control center.

Did you try both LVDS and eDP on your Alienware laptops??

Ok, Clevo Control Center. But I think the fans are so high because the Bios thinks there is no card installed.
And I tried both, eDP and LVDS.
Where did you get this RX 480 VBIOS?

That is the GeCube vBIOS, the other low TDP is presumably EUROCOM.
The WX7100 are all Dell, can you share your original vBIOS, so I can take a look at it tomorrow.

Here it is. I had a look on it with PolarisBiosEditor. I think the Clocks and TDP are too high. Rename it only to .rom

The AW18 is in SG mode. But bios and windows don‘t show the card. Perhaps with a VBios mod

Now I flashed various VBios from RX580. It worked, but under load Bluescreen with Thread Stuck in device Driver.
    Any Solution?

Which vBIOS for RX480 are we talking here to get it working in PEG? None of the RX480 vBIOS I have works with PEG mode in 120Hz nor 60Hz.
Can you share the vBIOS you used to get the WX7100 to RX480 and having it work in PEG mode? I be eternally thankful.

From what I know out of memory the RX480 cards most of them GeCube variants dunno which model you have but the GeCube ones do not have eDP output, only LVDS so flashing WX7100 vBIOS on them does not work but I find it odd that RX580 vBIOS worked for you, I have one from an Asus laptop and that just bricks the card, which RX580 vBIOS did you use?
You should not flash desktop vBIOS onto a laptop card as that can damage them, remember the power supply on those MXM cards are vastly weaker compared to a desktop card designed to draw upwards of 300W of power, however I had my WX7100 draw 200W of power out the socket just fine LOL, I will probably try to get it to draw around 160W with a hefty OC once I sorted out the operating system on my Alienware.

I flashed RX 580 Asus VBios and many Desktop VBios. Card still works. :D
Now I have found someone in another Forum who maybe can mod the card to an RX 580 with little bit OC and maybe he can change the fangraph

The power draw of the desktop variant may be way too high, you could try to manually downclock, decrease Power Limit via Afterburner.

I tested a wx7100 and as soon as the dGPU kicks in the fan goes in full mode. Unfortunately there is no option to control it manually with hwinfo...

There's no way to fix it, as the EC controller cannot read the radeon temperature, it enables panic mode (full fan) as soon as the dGPU kicks.
Unless someone can add a radeon fan table into the EC controler, I can't see any way out of this...
My card is now running on an AW 17 R1 with HWINFO custom fan control
