    Hi, I'll be getting a M17xR2 in the near future and have read about some driver issues. Namely that Dell only supports up until 11.10 and then crashes/BSOD when trying to install the latests ATI drivers (12.3?).

    How much truth is there to this and is there a work around without having to reinstall windows and the BIOS? Also, I've heard that crossfire is disabled when using the Dell drivers back in v11.1?

    On my R2 I just install the latest ATI drivers and I have no problems. The Dell drivers are slow and had a heap of problems for me.

    Thanks. Can anyone confirm there's no issues when trying to install the latest drivers?

    Well I've been using the latest drivers and haven't had any problems so I don't believe there's any issues.

    I've been on 12.6 Beta for a couple weeks now, no issues really.

    Don't use the Dell drivers, they are ANCIENT.

    12.6 beta here as well, and they've been great...granted I'm on 6970's, but no problems.

    I think that the only way you have with installing drivers is if you somehow got ahold of a really old r2 that no one ever updated the Vbios on the cards. Which is really unlikely. I believe you can download and install GPU-Z and it will tell you what VBIOS you have installed on the cards. Then you go to Welcome to Dell Technical Support and enter your service tag number, select drivers and then look for the updated VBios. If the version listed is the same as yours then you will have no problem installing drivers up to 12.6.

    But seriously, the chances of finding an R2 that doesnt already have that VBios update on it has to be really slim. Anyone who wanted to keep on their drivers had to update to it...who would not do that???

    VBIOS -> Good
    ATI Driver -> Good

    You good to go.
