I setup raid 0 with 2 500gig drives using the default 128k stripe size. I have read tons of stuff and can't seem to get a good answer on which size to use. I use the computer for everyday tasks, some gaming, AutoCAD, Inventor (3d parts modeling), and video editing every now and then.

I'm thinking I should have used a 64k stripe size.

When 128k is listed is that the same as a 128kb file size? If so the raid setup would only be faster if the files were over 128k in size anything under would simply go to one drive correct?

I also understand that if the stripe is too small then large files need to be chopped up even more slowing down the raid 0 array for the calculations.

Just not sure what to go with. Any help would be great.

I read somewhere that smaller stripe size is better for the OS while bigger stripe size is better for apps that handle large amount of data like games so I chose 64k looking around it seemed to be a balanced stripe size for everyday tasks
