I would appreciate if you guys could chime in on the performance boost that 2 Intel X25M 80GB SSD in a Raid 0 array would offer as opposed to a single Intel X25M 120GB SSD. Those are updates I am planning for my M17X. :)

It will be extremely fast, obviously. The problem is that you'll have 160GB of TOTAL storage because you'll be using both HDD bays up. Get the 120GB and another really big HDD for storage.

Or put your existing HDD's into an external caddy and if its large enough, you have great storage space depending on you existing HDD size and the benefit of blazing fast ssd performance with the raid setup.

I am trying to weigh in the cost to performance boost here. Does anyone have an idea how much faster the read and write time will be when comparing the SSD raid 0 setup vs the single SSD setup.

If I do choose the Raid 0 SSD setup, I will also get 1 Momentus XT 500GB as an external HDD

a RAID 0 setup should be faster than the drive on it's own.
