Why would my laptop all of the sudden seem to power down and reboot randomly? No discernable pattern, in game or just at idle. Temps ok. System checking programs memory, registry, virus etc...A-OK too.

anyone else with experience or thoughts?

My R3's done it a couple of times, never been able to find a problem though and it's such a rare occurence that I don't usually even think about it.

When you boot up, hit F12 and run the PSA, see if you have a bad stick of RAM or hardware failure.

Hardware instability or power supply issues.

Is it a complete shutdown or restart? Do you see the flash of a BSOD?

    Thanks everyone.

Ran the ePsa and all good.

    Samsung SSD from dell.

No Bsod, just quick random restart, happened three times in two days but not yesterday or today... Bizarre.

    Any other thoughts?

Try to run on a clean boot for a day or so and see if it restarts. A clean boot means disabling all your non-microsoft services, which will eliminate possible software conflict with programs you may have installed.

Possibly a peripheral not quite plugged in shorting the port?
