So I have been experiencing an issue where my computer has been randomly turning itself completely off.
I have been monitoring system temps and the highest I have seen is a cpu temp of 70 celcius GPU is usually between 55-60.
AW is sending a tech to replace my Mobo. Does that sound right to you or is there something else I should have the tech look at while he is here.
M17x r3 btw.

Does it just spontaneously shut completely off and then 3 seconds later turn back on? If so, this happens to me as well occasionally, in total probably 4-5 times its occurred since I have received it back on 4/5/11.
I have no idea why it happens though, many times it will occur while I'm doing nothing but idling on the desktop. -
I can say that I have had the same happen to me. I got this laptop in October of last year. Since then it has randomly shut down only three times. The bad part is one happened to be during a presentation at my work (nothing better than a shutdown followed by max fan speed as it starts up again
).

What laptop are you talking about? Our posts are in reference to the M17xR3, and AFAIK it was not yet released by October of last year.

I had the exact same thing happen with my Aurora ALX and it ended up being bad memory causing it. I had to figure this out myself since Dell said everything tested fine.

I am terrible sorry that I even mentioned anything :L. The R3 isn't the only version that suffers from random shutdowns. I was simply sharing the fact that I had similar experiences on a M17x period.
