If I try to reboot using windows command or any software trys to reboot my pc, screen blanks out after it reboots and I get a flashing numlock or capslock, cant remember which, just a single flashing light while rest are on and fans are on. Also wont wake from sleep ever, just stays with a blank screen. I can shut down the laptop fine though and boots up fine. Ram memtest and no issues. Everything works great. Been googling for any info on this and cant find anything. I recently upgraded to 16gb of Corsair ddr3, shows up fine in windows and works great. Seems I have the flashing light on reboot after upgrading ram, but always had the waking from sleep issue.

I've also tried to re-seat every cable and ribbon inside the laptop, and ram, and still same issues.

Both of M17xR2 have always had an issue waking from sleep. The one that I have left still doesn't play nice with sleep.

It is entirely possible your other issue is being caused by incompatible or defective memory module(s). If you have the old memory, put it back in and see if the problem goes away.

I'd guess some type of incompatibility. Its Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 mhz ram, which downclocks to 1333 but works great, 9-9-9-1T timings also. I got a great deal on it, at 145$ at BestBuy. I might just deal with the restart issue, since it works great once I'm in windows.

Runs at 1.5v so standard? Is PCMark lying to me? Lol, shows up as 800 mhz? Its not really running at that, is it?
