I've been reading quite a lot of threads in the last couple of weeks and for the most part, many of the posters here have the 6970 and use atitool or something to overclock their gpu. So, I have a few questions:

    1) Since I went the 460 route, what is the recommended program to overclock nvidia gpus?

    2) If I overclock, will the higher clock speeds be locked in 24/7? Or only during demanding apps and then downclock when idling in windows?

    3) What's the program used to monitor gpu clock speeds? I think cpuID was the cpu version, forgot the gpu version.

You can try EVGA | EVGA Software | EVGA's E-LEET Tuning Utility

    or MSI AFTERBURNER MSI Afterburner

Also you may be able to use Nvidia System Tools

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 6.06

If you overclock it the clocks will stay like that until you restart it. Then it will default to the stock clocks. You can just Overclock to play a game then revert when done. Or if you can use Nvidia system tools you can set a profile and load those profiles.

you can monitor your temps using GPU-Z

Another bump while we're on the same topic. When I ran gpuz (included in furmark and separate download), the sensor tab had no temps going. Could it be that my sensors are broken? I'm currently using darcoder's modded 270.16 drivers.
