Does the recovery disk that comes with the m17x contain a full version of windows 7 or some weird ised version without full functionality?

I'm thinking of saving costs and getting an aftermarket SSD for cheaper in a month or two but will need to reinstall windows and reconfigure everything. I chatted to a dell rep but they said it was a "recovery OS" which I don't fully understand :)

As far as I'm aware it's the full version of Windows 7. I've restored using it a few times and all functionality is there. Hope that helps :)

can confirm it is a full version of Windows 7. Ive done a fresh install and i have full functionality. If it helps i confirmed it with an Alienware rep before my fresh install.

    Good luck.

It's a full version of Windows 7 w/ the Dell applications all composed into an image. If you want to reload Windows 7 from scratch, you'll need a Windows 7 DVD that has SP1 integrated as the non-SP1 DVD's don't work properly with the Sandy Bridge AHCI/RAID controller.
