    Hello guys,

I have recently purchased a sealed in box, refurb M17x r2 with the following specs.

    Alienware M17x R2 i7-940XM 3.33GHz Quad Core 8GB RGBLED Black

Crossfire 1GB ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5870
    250GB

The retailer i purchased from had very good reputation on ebay. The problem was when i got the laptop, besides the windows accusing of not being a genuine copy, was that i could not for the life of me detect the second video card on windows. I tried speedfan, i tried GPUz, and i was really starting to worry. I picked up the service tag and called dell to check what configuration this laptop had sold with.

The guys over at dell had told me that it is actually one card with 2 GPU's on it. I was relieved, but still something did not seem right. I could not find for the life for me anything on the internet that supported what dell had stated, that it was possible to have a Radeon mobility 5870 x2 on my alienware.

Can you guys please give me some insight on this situation, do i have crossfire or did i get ripped off?

TL :DR i cant find my second graphics card on windows or any other software, dell says its a dual card. I dont beleive

Sorry to say dude, but you got ripped off.
Two cards in one is not possible in the laptop world. The laptop should have two gpus (one on the left, the other one on the right) linked together with a crossfire cable.
Install hwinfo32 and press on temperatures. You should see two readings, one for each card. Here is my temp reading for my crossfire setup

If you only see one reading, you only have one card.

That's beat, I would raise hell if it doesn't end up having the 2nd GPU. They still cost around 350 to get from dell. Just check it out and see if you have it if not complain to the seller and hopefully he can work something out with you.
