    Hi guys,

I bought my Alienware M17xR3 refurbished.

It didn't come with a disc. To have the laptop Alienware themed do I need a special Alienware disc? Or is there a recovery type partition on the machine?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Skywalka,

You can check if you still have the AlienRespawn recovery partition, check out this article for more information. If not, you can find all the drivers and downloads for your M17x R3 here, and, if you are using Windows 7, the Alienware desktop themes here.

    Hope that helps.

As long as you have your windows code you can download the correct version of windows from digital river and use you key to activate it.

Its my understanding that the machines these days don't come with a COA like back in the day, rather, an OEM OS disk that's tied to the mother board of a specific model. If you are still under warranty, you can get them to send you an OS recovery disc, just contact AW support. If you're out of warranty, I'm afraid you'll be paying a premium for it.

This is true, we aren't sending the Windows 8 COA attached to the laptop. It's on the motherboard. You can request the media here.
