    Hiya

I have an Alienware M17x R2 and it's been so slow and been lagging. I am thinking of reinstalling Windows 7 but I dont have the originals which came with the system.

Is it alright if I install it from a generic dell dvd and install the drivers later on?

Anything in particular I should be careful of? I've already downloaded all necessary drivers from the dell website.

    Thanks in advance.

I did a reinstall just a few days ago. Instead of using the Win7 dvd that it came with, I downloaded the ISO which included the full Win7 + SP1 and made a bootable USB to reinstall with. You can use your product key to activate it later.

Also it is probably best to install all of the drivers from the Dell site first, then update to any newer ones after that. There is a great guide by BatBoy on the order that the drivers should be installed. It worked perfectly for me so you should have no troubles.

    Goodluck!

    Cheers Rypac

I am downloading my version now. Is it possible to convert provided ISO into my own Dell Windows version?

Hmm, I'm not too sure. I think you'll just have to enter your product key each time you reinstall.
