    Hey guys,

So I'm back on Windows 7. I want Windows 10 completely removed from my computer as windows update continues to download a folder to my root directory called Windows~BT. Apparently it's the folder that holds all the files for the Windows 10 upgrade.

    I found this link http://www.ghacks.net/2015/04/17/how-to-remove-windows-10-upgrade-updates-in-windows-7-and-8/

I was wondering if anyone else knew of anything else that should be removed to prevent Windows 10 from even downloading onto my Windows 7.

I want Windows 10 gone for good.

I've actually got a disc image from the that I restored back to using a program. I just need to get rid of all the Windows 10 stuff. Even when I have the Windows 10 app uninstalled on a clean install of Windows 7 the Windows~BT folder still gets downloaded and my windows update starts telling me an update failed to install.

To completely remove the Win10 download feature, remove windows update KB 3035583. That should stop the $~Windows.BT from being made. Turn off automatic updates in System and Security, and you'll be good. Make sure C:\Windows\System32\GWX is completely gone, and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\GWX is also empty. Those are what download the files.

I was all for Windows 10, but after the last couple of weeks, I am beginning to think is rather ****e, overly Microsoft controlled. On one hand I want the newest, but on the other hand, Windows 7 and even now Windows 8.1 are both very stable operating systems, which there is little BS to deal with. Windows Updates nags and background download/installs on Windows 10 are really pissing me off, even with most of the limited available settings turned off

If you have Win10 Pro you can disable autoupdates in User Account Control/Group Policy. Hopefully, like the Win8 botched release, M$ will get their heads out of their arses and release a fix. Or someone within the mod community will find a way to get Win7/8's update selector back.
