Really don't know how else to word it. Was just listening to a song on Youtube, decided to remove my iPod's USB cable (which had no iPod connected to it) and the laptop just went dead. This is the second time this has happened. It was the 2 points on the left side of the laptop, by the ethernet port. Both of the plastic pieces from the USB sockets have come off so I'm wondering if that could be the issue?

Foolishly, the computer isn't under warranty because I decided not to extend. Also, rather annoyingly, the 2 USB sockets on the right side of the laptop have not been working for the past 5 days.

Any help is appreciated. Many apologies if a thread has already been created regarding either issue, I'm just quite concerned and hurried to make the thread.

    Thanks,
    Shuya

Edit: Just seen from my order confirmation e-mail that I have "3 Year Premium Warranty Support" but then slightly later in the Dell specs it says "1 Year Premium Warranty Support". Any idea which I actually took? Methinks I need to give them a phone. =/

I would give them a call to see where you stand. Then I would try with a fresh install, at the very least, see if you can update drivers or the bios.

If you are not far from your warranty running out, they may still let you extend it. Also did you maybe static shock the laptop?

yuo can also check your warranty status online in the support section

enter your service tag number and it will give you the details.

Yeah, think I did a few weeks back. :(

Just did that mate, got 2 more years. Thanks so much for letting me know that was possible. Gonna call Dell tomorrow and get this sorted out.

Thanks for all the replies. Very grateful.
