Does anyone do this? I got the m17x r3 today and as I just sit at my desk this seems like the best option to me.
(Hopefully it doesn't mess anything up).
Also, I got all the back up discs in the box yet the computer still asked me to create my own, are the discs fine for back-ups?
I have to say it is quite simply a stunning laptop and I've had no problems (touch wood). I saw a video of someone on YouTube talking about keyboard flex but I really can't see it. The keyboard is really nice and there is no flex what so ever.![]()

Some people say it helps retain your battery life, others say it doesn't matter. I don't know which is better. Leave it in, or take it out. I always leave it in.

it shouldn't matter. in the old laptops, i know that they didn't have a charge cut off point, and it would continuous charge and discharge the batttery (this is on the old nickel cadmium/niMH battery powered laptops)
On modern laptops though, windows has this power scheme that auto regulates this things via threshold. If the threshold is say 95% charged battery, then the system will use only AC power. if its below 95%, it will charge the battery an then switch to ac only. but when it is charged or within the threshold, teh system runs off ac power, and does not deal with the battery, leaving it untouched without excess cycles. -
Do you mean yanking out the battery while the computer is on while having the AC plugged in? It's fine, I do it all the time right when battery becomes fully charged.

I have had mine plugged in for the better part of the last two months and I have seen no battery degradation.

As long as you cycle it, say once a week, you should be fine
Consider your battery as a cheap PSU it's not made to last forever. -
If you want to store the battery charge it up to 40% before you store it. To cycle the charge you will need to charge it up to 100% and use it until it is down on 40% again. 40% is the most stable level to store a battery.
Leaving the battery in the computer wont affect its lifespan. The psu cuts of the charge at a certain level. Its good to have it as a backup power supply.
Removing battery running just in power
