Apparently under the edge to edge glossy layer of the m17x, there is a relatively non reflective matte display. Does anyone have any experience removing this layer? I read that some people have done it on the m18x, but I'd like to see about the m17x R4. I think it is easy to remove, but if you want it to look nice, you need to replace the bezel around it. So I have been asking around a bit. I had correspondence with someone at Xotic PC, which just began offering the m17x, if they could offer this modification as a build option. I was told that they don't offer it at the moment but they'll be looking into it. Hopefully it will be available soon.

So, does anyone have any more info on this?

I'd be interested if that's fesable too since I could make my own bezel to keep a finished look if it is, the glossy screen is the only thing I don't like about my m17x. I don't know why dell or any manufacturers for that matter are so obsessed with glossy displays, I know they say glossy has better colors, contract, etc, but all profession grade desktop monitors that graphic artists use are matte screens so I think that's just a load of bs and it's strictly based on the LCD panel used. Really I don't see a single advantage glossy screens have over matte, just disadvantages.
