It is a GPU problem. Try reseating the GPU, it could mean a bad 580m, or you just didn't get it in there right.

what bios are you running? even if its the newer one, you might just wanna reflash and see if that fixes the problem.

I dont see a mention of you resetting your cmos battery. Try pulling it out for 30 seconds, put it back in, then restart your computer. It will beep again, leave it for 30 seconds to beep, then force shut it down and restart. It should be working now.

I had the same problem. 8 beeps. Actually mine was more like, 1 beep pause 7 beeps.

Make sure you have locked your cpu in case you took it out for repasting. I had forgotten to do that.

nah dell's warrenty is pretty good in this respect. Opening up the machine won't void your warranty. I have done it many time for various reasons and then sent it in to dell to get fixed for some stuff about a month ago, came back great. :D

UP-Date I sent the card back and found out that they sent me the wrong one, they sent me the ati 6990 card and it will not work in the 3d model of the M17XR3 so they are going to send me the M580 this time with new pads.
I will be trying it again wish me luck. :)

    Congrates on getting yours working.

UP-DATE: received my new card GTX580M and installed it without any issues. The card cost me $700 plus shipping. If anyone is interested where i got the card EBAY I will give you a link to the seller he has both ATI and Nvidia cards just PM me.

Now that I was able to up-grade my laptop I think I will hold off A bit on A new one. I only use it when I am At work on break when I am home I use my PC unless I am doing multiple things like gaming on the PC I will use the laptop to have on the side to surf when the game has a low period and also order me some PIZZA :)
