Do you think that a repaste is needed for the m17x listed in my signature? If I am not going to be benchmarking does it even matter? If I do repaste should I do both the gpu and cpu and do I have to replace pads? Last question is: does repasting void dell's warranty? Sorry for asking so many questions lately. I guess I am just trying to be a good father for my $2500 baby :D

Only if your temps are bad when you get it should you repaste. You shouldn't have to change the pads for atleast 6 months. (Unless again your temps for your GPU memory are high like greater than 85 definitely if in the 90's)
No repasting does not void the warranty as long as you don't brake anything during disassembly and reassembly.
