Replacement R3 for R2

I don't think Dell will send 18X as a replacement until they have some refub units on their shelf.
So, its better to wait for a month if you really want a 18X as a replacement or get your R2 fixed.
If you accept the R3 then in future, even if you get 18X, it will be single gpu which is not what 18X is all about.

 

RThe refund is about 3700 SEK ex tax. I decided to try and keep the R3 for as long as the R2 is away on service. I rather have a quality system then a cheaper plastic one.

 

The story continous;

I told DELL that it was not acceptable to be out of a laptop for the time that it would be away on service, they got back to me saying that i could use the new R3 while the R2 was on service. Acceptable service.

I now have two Alienware latops for a few days and its interesting comparing them.

On Heaven Dx11 benchmark 2.5 all settings max the R2 beats the R3 every time! I have tried different screen resolutions. I will try Dx10 and Dx9 on Monday.

The R3 is very quiet even at full load. The R2 sounds almost more at idle then the R3 at full.

The screens are very different! The R2 "shines" while the R3 looks dull and not at all as sharp in colours and "lines".

The schassis are almost not comparable. R2 is genuine and "for real" while R3 squeaks and it feels like its going to peel after a while. When I close the R3 lid, it does not line up with the body, it is not straight!

Alien FX version on the R3 is 2.6.2.0 and on the R2 there is only an older version available. The R3 version works better and even has some predefined themes. Looks very nice! Is it possible to get that version on the R2?
