Ok so the repair guy just left after replacing my monitor, which had a brown spot in it.

The new screen is the same res, WLED is the only recognizable trait I saw in the chinese coding on the back. I saw nothing about contrast ratio or anything.

Now it could just be me, but this screen feels darker than my last, in fact my Nexus One screen next to it has much brighter whites.

Is there any way to check to see what the technical differences are between the two without taking the laptop apart?

I had 2 identical M17xR3 screens, same model number etc etc and one was noticeably brighter then the other so your mind is not playing tricks on you.

Even the same model screens can have different nit(brightness) values and you would think they are all identical but they are not sadly..
