I just received a new replacement m17x r2 from Dell (the fourth one). They were nice enough to boost my RAM from 4 GB to 6 GB and they upgraded my processor from an i7-720 to an i7-740.

BUT, I only have a single 500 GB hard drive instead of two, and, more importantly, they downgraded my 1920x1200 monitor to a 1440x900. I don't know much about screen resolution, but that seems like a significant downgrade.

Should I go through the trouble of getting my monitor upgraded to its original resolution?

Yes, that is a HUGE difference. Completely unacceptable. Plus sounds like yours was RGB screen, which was the "best of the best of the best", if you will.

I have a feeling they don't know anything about the specs of the computers. Here's one of the chats I had with a representative after Dell keeps cancelling my order for no reason at all. (The one I ordered for $1700 was 2820QM, 4GB, 750GB HD, FHD screen, 6970M, Blu-Ray, and look at the specs and price they try to push on me, and have the nerve to call it "same specs")

Holy crap that is rediculous, oh Dell reps how I lothe you. As for the OPs dilema I would advise you to call them up and demand the same specs you have with the better screen the 1440x900 screen does not compete with the RGB screen. The RGB is as stated the best of the best of the best.
