Screen and optical drive are but there is no other screen available.

Dell should offer you a blu ray player, tell them you watch blu ray movies on your machine and now you cant.

Seems like a fair replacement if you ask me. If you use the Blu-Ray alot I would Mention that to them and see what they say.

If you had which you do CF 5870, you really should push for a m18x. On the grounds your m17x R2 had them. Except for the Blu-Ray and the CF it would have been a good deal. The 580m is a very good GPU but you paid for CF. Tell then you will email the Corp Resolution Dept if they will not see reason. ;)

I will send a email, im not agree with them.
I payed 3000 euro for the M17XR2, this system they offer is 1000 euro less.

European prices are horrible. :( The R3 with a 580m is a powerfull system.

But you had dual card, see if can get a M18x with 6990m/blu ray player.

    256GB SSD
    8X DVD-RW
    GTX 580 2Gb

That is a tough one above. The m17 has the better CPu and SSD, which is good. But the M18 has xfire and Blu ray. I would say they look fairly similar, get whichever you want (I might go for the M17 due to the lighter weight but they are both good).

Glade to see they came around to reason, nice choices. The m18x will hold its value longer.

Well it all depends on the OP. We cant judge just by specification. Most of see as if the M18x is the best to have. But its not the case..The best to have must meet the best of your interest, otherwise its of no value either way you look at. Its very tempting. Some of course may just take the most value and perhaps choose to sell it to make a quick buck.

I dont know if both the systems are valued at the same $$$ at the end. M18x might hold its value longer for? aluminium vs the cost of getting upgrades in aftermart? Not something an average user would do.
