I have to ask, because I really don't know..........long story short, I have to replace the monitor assembly on my 17xR1 and I think I read somewhere that you have to re-set the cmos if you're going to a different resolution monitor? ie: I have a 1440x900 monitor now that's broke, and I'm going to install a 1920x1200 monitor. G516T vs. the G517T. Now, is there a cmos jumper on the motherboard kind of like a desktop motherboard OR do I just pull the battery from the mobo? OR, do I not have to re-set the cmos at all?

    No, there's no jumper!
To reset the CMOS you'll have to:
    remove the power cord
    remove system battery
remove the back panel(yes the one with the chromed plate) fixed with 2 screws
now you have access to the coincell battery( next to the system fan), just unplug it
press the power button for ~10 seconds and it's done

Now put everything back together and redo your BIOS settings if you previously changed anything there (PCI Gen2  , raid options etc.)

    Have fun.

I have a question about this; I've been considering swapping out my own 1440x900 screen, as well. Where are you looking to purchase this thing, eldub? I've looked (very little), but had no luck. I'm probably really ignorant on this, but is the LED-backlit R3 screen compatible, or something? I can't seem to find legacy parts.

    Thanks!

You can't, they have different mounting systems/dimensions, the LCD's are also different: R1/R2 are 16:10 while the R3 is 16:9.

Yup, I am. Thanks to your G517T part number, I found a few R1 listings. But I'm still curious: are R3 LED-backlit ones compatible? Or no?

So, R2 screens are also 16:10, and sometimes have LED backlights? :D I might be looking into that.

That panel is CRAZY expensive

Any idea what part numbers power a G517T as far as inverter?

I have a WUXGA (1920x1200) panel which I'm trying to replace a WXGA (1440x900) panel with. I took the inverter from the WXGA and connected all wires to the WUXGA panel and this is what I get:

In talking with some Tech friends they said that inverter (the 1440x900's) will NOT power that panel (the 1920x1200), soooo, I'm hopeful to get a correct part number for an inverter to power the WUXGA panel :(

The stripes is not the only problem with that panel. It has some crazy back bleeding at the bottom too. It looks almost like my previous screen that was ccfl.

About the inverter, I am quite sure you can buy one from Dells sales department.

What is the part number on the one you took from the Dual CCFL 1440x900?
If the one in the listing is indeed for the Dell M17x and the part number it's not the same as the one you have, than it has to be the inverter for the 1920x1200 Dual CCFL as there were only one model each.

    sad.
What screen does the other one have?
Are you 100% it's not a GPU issue?

I am 100% sure because I switched GPU's, I have (2) 260m Master cards, both working, and the result was the same. Looks like I'm in the market for an LCD assembly or another LCD screen :(
