I'm looking for a copy of a Dell 660m vbios.
I'd appreciate if anyone could upload a copy of it. Let me know if you need instructions about how to dump it.
Thanks!

I've got one dumped on my hard drive right now...... but my rig is in the shop. I'll give you two guesses as to why
I should have it back by Friday and will post it to my dropbox if nobody else has upped one yet. This time I'll leave the mods to somebody more experienced than me

Cool, thank you!

i can't oc the gtx 660m on my M17X R4. I suspect the bios. I've tried so many drivers (modded and certified), using Latest MSI Afterburner, EVGA precision, the clock speed remains the same. pissing.

Yep, the vbios is locked up. But it seems it is injected into the actual bios somehow when flashed..... found that out the hard way..... a bad vbios flash seems is capable of corrupting the system bios as well.

Wow that is bad news anyway around this lock? I am pretty sure it affects the 680M on the m18x r2 and m17x as well...
-
Yep there is I think..... a modified vbios would fix it up good. I tried modifying it with no luck, but somebody else may be netter suited to it. Its been far to many years since I've done any bios mods, and I'm obviously a little to out of touch to be messing around with it.

I highly doubt that you can't overclock it per software... try it with afterburner while you have a 3d application running in the background.
Also the vbios isn't part of the BIOS in this system, you can't mess up the BIOS by flashing the vbios in this case.
And yes, I'm still looking for a copy of the vbios... @maplingstorie, mind helping me out here? -

However, it might not work for your card... if it's not successful let me know, there are other methods as well. -

Alright, in this case try nvflash, a DOS tool.
First of all you need to create an USB drive that can boot DOS, follow this guide: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...sh-drive-flash-aw-bios-updates-under-dos.html
Then grab a copy of the latest DOS version of nvflash, here:
Download NVFlash 5.117.0.1 | techPowerUp
Extract it and put it to the root of your prepared USB drive.
Boot from the USB drive, I think the boot manager can be reached by pressing F12 at startup (when you see the alien head), but it might be different for your system).
DOS will load, a command propmt will show up.
Type the following command to save a copy of the vbios to your usb drive:
Code:nvflash -b 660m.ROM

ah!!! i don't have a usb drive.
is there another simpler method?
-
No USB stick? Seriously?
Well, try nvflash for windows, should be the same command. It's a command line utility, you can grab it here: Download NVFlash 5.118 for Windows | techPowerUp -
I finally got my rig back. I'll upload to my drop box and pm you the link in a few hours
