    Hi,

I'm a new member, but a long-time frequenter of this forum. I haven't been on in awhile, though, and I've lost track of the threads that maintain the must current desirable BIOS and Graphics Drivers for the m17x-r2, particularly for xfire HD4870's. I seem to recall that you could use ATI's latest mobility graphics drivers instead of the dell ones, but I can't remember if I had to download a modified version or do something special or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Ian

Your best source of updated drivers for the 17xR2 is going to be here:

    Drivers & Downloads

Not sure on the 4870's but I see no reason why its not possible - go with the latest AMD release. On my 17xR2 with 5870CF, I uninstalled the AMD display driver, safe mode + CCleaner for left over registry entries, reboot to desktop and installed the 11.9 AMD release without issue.
