    Please help?

I just bought an Alienware M17x r4 online, used, and the person left their account on it... password protected of course...

And I don't know how to restore it to the factory settings to get the account off of the system. I've put in the Windows 7 disk, turned it on and off, mashed f8 f9 f12 whatever but nothing to restore to factory settings.

Try pressing the F8 key at the bios and keep tapping it repeatedly to see if the laptop has a recovery partition on it .

The best thing for you to do would be full re-install of windows . I prefer to do it through USB because it seems to do it quicker . You also have to follow a driver install list for the machine too . I will have a look around NBR and get the list for you .

When I do the f8 to repair etc. it takes me to a place that first wants what language to be in, then takes me to System Recovery Options where it wants me to log in... but I don't have the account password.

Let us know how it goes, as suggested above... the only 2 routes are a clean install or contacting them. I guess trying to contact them is easier than a clean install.

I would still go for the clean install route, you don't know what the previous owner had installed and then removed....
