Hi guys, how do I restore RAID 0? I did a clean install of Windows and to get it to work I had to switch to AHCI because for RAID at the end of the Windows installation it tells me that "windows cannot be configured to work on your system". I have Intel rapid storage technology installed but If i change the setting in the bios back to RAID 0 and try to boot up with windows i get a BSOD. help?

Also, i cant use alienrespawn because a gifted fellow at south africa tech support told me I had to delete the alienrespawn partition when I clean installed for it to work properly..

You can't restore a RAID 0 configuration using AHCI as it is a stripe combination between two hard disks. The creation of the RAID 0 will erase the contents of the hard drive used for installation.

The Windows installation error you pointed out is a bug between the Sandy Bridge controller and Windows 7 that is corrected in one of two ways: You can download the patch from Dell, or you can use a Windows 7 DVD that has SP1 integrated into it.

If you contact Alienware support, they will know where you can get the patch from. I didn't use the patch as I have my own SP1 DVD that I created for installation.

To get the ISO, you will need to find someone that a Windows 7 w/ SP1 DVD or use Google as your last resort. I could point you to some resources, but that may be against forum rules.

As for the drivers and performance changes, I noticed that Black Ops played more smoothly with the 275.50 drivers. I have not yet tested 3D Vision to see if it works properly. I got the 275.50 pack from laptopvideo2go.com along with the modded INF that they provide: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/28586-v27550-windows-7vista-64bit-oem-mobile/

Darcoder pretty much does the same thing, but LaptopVideo2Go has been modifying INF's for a long time.

Sigh the resources don't seem to work for me, and I can't find anyone with a sp1 disk yet, but i'll keep trying. I called Dell to ask about the patch but the kept transferring me and 40 minutes later they said I have to call local support (TO GET A PATCH?!) anyone know a link to the patch?

While the system is on the "Raid" setting in the bios, the system will run in achi mode. So say it is set to raid and you have a single drive it will perform exactly the same as it does when set to "AHCI". I have confirmed this.

the windows install will fail though unless you load the raid driver at the start of the install... that is why your clean install failed....

I will be facing a similar situation. I'll be getting my R3 with a 320GB drive and putting in two momentus xt drives. Where would I find the RAID drivers to load with the Windows install?

I think I can help. Happened to me on my M18x, go here:

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...rsion=Windows 7, 64-bit*&DownloadType=Drivers

and download the drivers. Put them on a thumb drive and boot your system into the windows install setup. When it prompts where to install windows 7, there is an option on the lower left corner for install drivers. Click and it and click browse, find the thumb drive and click on it. It should then see the drivers and ask to install. After the install is complete it will come back to the original window. Setup the HDD partitions as you wish and install windows. Your all set!!!!

Just remember to setup the array first before installing windows.

thanks alot I will do it soon. I can also verify that the 275.50 NVidia drivers Livid told me about at v275.50 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | OEM Mobile - LaptopVideo2Go Forums work, including the 3D

*edit* you dont need to use the modded INF anymore, 280.26 drivers on Nvidia's website work fine without modded INF, using those now

*EDIT* yup it worked, thanks alot Drew
