    Never mind. Not returning computer.

    Should i get another m17x r3 with GTX? I don't know if I can afford the m18x not sure yet. Any thoughts?

    sounds more like a problem with the game....it doesnt seem to like the drivers.... i wouldnt return the lappy jsut cuz it cant play a crappy game imo

    Did you try the latest video drivers? Catalyst 11.4 direct from AMD. Also is this problem only happening with STO? If it's happening elsewhere then the chances are you simply have a faulty HD6970.
    I'd tend to agree with steve above that returning a system simply because a game hasnt been coded correctly to be compatible is a bit daft when it's more than likely an update will be released for either the ATI card or the game which fixes the issue.

    Have you tried playing another game? Download Crysis or DA II demo to try.. This really sounds like a software problem rather than a hardware one. I would really try to narrow down your issue before jumping on Dell for a replacement.
