Here you go, simply amazing article of M17x with GTX 580M. Seems like AW cooling can really handle this card. Oh, i want my beast so badly right now)

Both contradict on the 3D performace, heat and power draw. I hope as more and more members in NBR get their system the real picture is revealed.

Most importantly we need a direct comparison to remove doubts on 580m vs 6990m.

It's such a pricy upgrade though. It really kept me from considering it based on the fact that the 6990m seems to have far more than adequate performance (particularly for a laptop card) and I didn't see shelling out another chunk of cash. I'm sure it's an awesome card but you gotta be willing to drop the cheddar on it.

Well, the 580m is $300 more to upgrade to, than the 6990m. Even if the performance is around 4% worse on the 6990m, I would still consider the 6990m a better card because of the cost.

    That's personal opinion. 560M + 120hz screen = epic win.

Well, yeah, it's 950 dollars worth of upgrades in just the screen and card. It'd better be ftw. :)

Except for the fact that you can't even order it like that right now. :(
