I've been playing Rift, an MMO, on my R3 with GTX 460m.

Max settings except no shadows and no AA. I get 30-40fps. Is that what i should be getting?

considering its a 460 GTX and rift in beta (is that about right?) - yes, graphically and physically capable MMO is demanding

I play it all max settings, with no shadows and pull around 25-40 fps depending on whats going on around me. Out in the open world, 30-50 fps depending.

This is on my m17x r2 with xfire 5870s, 8 gigs ram and i7-720. I too would love to get more fps than this, however it is still a beta, so we shall see if it improves when not in debug mode.

Alright i mean im fine with 35 fps, it still looks good, and 40 fps is lovely. Just making sure because i remember people saying their alienwares handled WoW on max with like 80 fps or something

basically i think you shouldnt bother about FPS especially in beta games. if its comfortable to play, dont stick your thumb around things that are not worth it :)

WoW is optimized to run on practically anything. It's been around for 6+ years and regularly updated. Agree with other posters that you shouldn't base your concerns on a beta release.

While I had my refurb R2 with 5870x2, I had horribly FPS. I took some time and followed the advice to clean everything out with CC Cleaner and Driver Sweeper. After that , I put on the 11.2 and 2/25 CAP, it ran like a dream pumping 35-40 fps on Ultra (Albeit, sounding like a jet plane on takeoff).

My refurb'd R2 with 285 SLI does about 40-45 in the world and 25 FPS in the city (fully populated server). I forgot to look at it while doing some PvP last night.

I had to remove my HDMI cable that sets up my 2nd monitor to get the best FPS. With a 2nd monitor on full resolution/color, my FPS in open world would drop to under 30. If I dropped the 2nd monitor (my HDTV) to low res/color, the FPS was okay at around 40. I used that setting in order to pump the sound through my home theater system. Much better than laptop sound.
