    Greetings

I was wondering what are the right applications profiles for the latest Dell drivers (8.763-100810a-104118C-Dell, A01) for the HD5870 CF

I have downloaded the profiles of 10.10 but apparently they are not functioning properly, probably because they are meant for the 10.10 drivers?

I knew they are not working properly because i tried to force AA in Darksiders game, the application profile change log stated that it can be done, but all i got is transparent layers, i cant even see the character only the shadow.

so i wanted to know what application profile version that is compatible with the latest ATI Dell drivers (if there is such a thing) or it doesnt matter what version of application profile with what driver version?

I may be wrong and someone will probably point it out if I am :p , but I think Dell drivers already have the CAP built in. Plus you should only use the CAP for the ATI drivers you are using i.e. dont use CAP 10.11 with ATI drivers 10.10

hmm so i should remove the application profile that i have downloaded and installed? i.e. 10.10?

because i have read in many places that ATI has saperated the application profiles from the driver itself. Dell re-bundeled them in their drivers?

Well just like it's not that right for reference drivers... If you have 10.10, you should use CAP 10.10 and 10.11, on 10.9 it would be 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11, for 10.11 just 10.11 from what i read once. App profiles are game fixes and should include the respective cross-fire and maybe other game releated fixes to perform better. Here's a good FAQ about the CAP: Catalyst Application Profiles FAQ!

It was advised once, not to install app profiles along Dell drivers, as it is not exactly known the behaviour/influence of them. Simple said, they don't know and everyone else is unsure either way about app profiles for the most part. So let's just use them along AMD drivers. I'm not even sure if the latest build of AMD drivers already include the previous app profiles. I normally use the latest GPU driver along the latest app profiles. I don't think we see any difference between Dell and AMD drivers anymore. What could be improved IMO is the vbios. But that should be another story... Cheers :D

thanx for the link, it clarified some questions i had on my mind regarding the app profile.

So people who use Dell drivers are not to benefit from the application profiles? or is it just the "latest" app profiles?

for example, what version of AMD Driver the latest Dell drivers corresponds to? is it 10.8? 10.7? ... etc? so i could maybe install the correct application profile and benefit from it.

I am very tempted to remove the dell drivers and update to the latest AMD ATI drivers, only thing that is holding me back is " if it aint broken, dont try to fix it".

Update: ok after removing the application profile I resumed playing darksiders (with latest Dell Drivers still installed), .. the performance was horrible, i thought my eyes were playing tricks on me cuz i last played it yesterday night were the application profiles were there, but it was really horrible, very choppy, so i re-installed the latest application profiles and the the game became smooth again, definitly smoother than when there were no app profiles. even though that the AA seems not enabled, but for sure i got a performance boost in this game.

so am keeping the application profiles with the dell drivers as it seems its giving me something :) thanx for the help guys

Not according to Rage3D's FAQ section. You should only use the CAP for the driver you are using.... and if a new version comes out e.g. 10.10a is replaced by 10.10b, then you should remove 10.10a and install 10.10b.

Official Catalyst Application Profiles FAQ! - Rage3D Discussion Area
•Are new profiles cumulative and inclusive (newer profiles contain all the fixes from prior profiles) or are older profile 'fixes' included with each driver new release?
Yes. You only need the most current CAP. Fixes are moved into the next driver releases, too.

Also as a side note the new CAP for 10.11 have been released - 10.11 CAP2
