Hey NBR
I think I went over the top a bit, but my Alienware is safer than hell in this bad boy!
This is a 1495 Pelican Case with High Density Foam
Here is a link!
PelicanProducts1495Case
This case only has room for the computer by itself. Nothing Else.
I use a 18.4" Sager NP8120 Carrying bag for my NZXT Cryo LX and other goodies.

love the case, how much does the case/notebook weigh together, could be a viable option for my overseas travel.....is there any movement of the notebook in the case at all?...or is it as snug as a bug in a rug?
-
The case and notebook feel like about 15-17 lbs all together. The foam was pick and pluck so you can pick out as much as you need. My M17X doesnt move one bit. I guess you can say snug as a bug in a rug. lol
If you want you can buy solid foam too and customize it however you want. If you notice in the last pic all the protein and supplements i have to take to carry this thing!! lol My arms are huge so i have no probs. Everytime i bring it to work it looks like im a Hitman. I carry 2 bags just like a military sniper or something lol. -
That is one beefy case. I'm currently looking at the Pelican Storm and noticed it's cheaper than the 1495.
-
I physically drove to Pelican and looked at 10 different cases. There was one Storm case I liked but they scratch much easier and the build quality wasn't as nice. If I were you I would spend the extra $$ and get the original Pelican. It's not that much more.
-
How much did you pay at the local store? I see $120~140 online.
-
I paid like $150 otd the high density foam was like $35
-
Handsomerob,
This is nice, Just wish I could carry the adapter with it also. Not a big deal considering I can put in my back pack.
I realy think this is the way to go, have you tried flying with it?
Was it a pain to carry through customs or on the plane?
How is the shoulder strap?
Is it padded enough for easy use?
You have got me sold, Thanks a much for the pictures. -
I have never flown with it but it meets TSA standards and can be checked through Customs no problem
I don't use the shoulder strap but it is padded and built very well -
anybody else want to post pics of there laptop bags or workstations?
-
nothing major. the Orion carrying bag and a desk lol. -
Good placement of the sticker that came with it. I had been wondering what to do with it. I might just copy that
-
oh yeah, been about 9 months now I've had it and still sticks fine. i didn't know what else to stick it on.
-
lol i was going to stick that damn sticker on the power supply too
i might just put it on the corner of my mirror in the bathroom -
well i didn't want to put it somewhere no one wold ever see it, and i wasn't going to use it as a bumper sticker-- that's just asking for people to break into your car lol. power supply seemed like the best place.
-
Anybody else have pics of there gaming stations or cases??

Here we go again. That’s because you got me started
Well… Back to the old days when I first arrived to the US of the A. I had no idea what I’m gonna become. I’m here for studying. And there is nothing can beat a Macbook Pro in college
The following pics were taken in the very first month of me in the US. Those are a Mac 15”, cheap-o JBL Spot 2.1 (it’s cute though) and a stupid TV Tuner
After a month or two I missed my games and I told myself: Heck, I’m studying, okay. But some gaming does not hurt anyone at all. That’s when I decided I go Alienware route.
The following pics were taken after 6 months of me in the US. Those are a Red R1, cheap-o Logitech 5.1. I still remember the feeling when I lay my back on the chair. I was so happy with the crazy auto-dimming and color bleeding display of the R1, and the booming and cracking sound of the Logitech. Both sound and visual were meh but I was satisfied
There were also a X-Fi ExpressCard and a Shure SRH440 if you take a close look. Those were my first ever headphone rig. After that I'm spoiled and you don't wanna know how much I have been spending on headphone stuff
Summer 2010 was so great. I saved up quite a lot of ca$h thank to my summer job and I decided to go big. After one year in the US, I also figured out how good sound can be. So I sold my arms and legs…
The following pics were taken a month ago, one year since I first came to the US. Those are a Silver R2, Infinity 5.0 Home Theater and 8” Subwoofer, 100” HD 1080p Vivitek projector.
Oh and what kind of work station without a headphone. Here is some pics of my most recent headphone
Sorry for the long postLast edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
WOW
awesome setup you got there SillyHoney.
I've been wanting a projector for a very long time now. hmmmmmssssssssssssssssssss. WOW yours looks so clear as well. Is it 1080p?
WOW i sure luv looking at all these pictures of different setups and cool layouts.
Cheers. -

Hey reborn, it's 1080p. And it's nice too. I wish it to be brighter a bit more but guess it's $860 I don't expect image quality to be top-notch.
In overall, I'm satisfied. And bear in mind I'm very picky when it comes to visual -
Very nice SH. Sweet little LCD2.
I got rid of mine recently and moved on to real speakers. No regret as the difference is night and day. -
SillyHoney Headphone Enthusiast
"Mine"? You mean the LCD-2? If so then hold on mate, what is your name on Head-Fi
And yes, loud speakers and headphone are two very different things. I will surely invest in speakers in the future but given my current situation in which I'm studying abroad for only 3 years I cannot buy big things like 60" HDTV or serious 3-way speakers. That's why I bought projector and headphone
And that not to say headphone is bad. Each has its strength and weakness. And I love both
Edit: Oh and by the way, what was your setup for the LCD-2? -
Hey SH is that a Creative X-Fi Express 54 Sound card I see??
If so how do u like it compared to the onboard sound??
I'm debating on getting the Ligitech G35 USB headset or a Express 54 Sound Card with a pair of Audio Technica AD700's -
-
SillyHoney Headphone Enthusiast
AD700 is a very nice choice for gaming. But the ExpressCard is stupid. It will not be an improvement compared to the M17x headphone out. Buy a DAC instead. A uDAC, for example, while is cheap and nothing Hi-Fi at all, will dramatically improve the sound quality. There are a lot of other options. But don't go for the X-Fi.
There is a boom-mic mod for AD700 if you want it to be a headset. And this thread maybe interesting for you:

I'm about to leave the U.S to back home soon so I must resistAnd my Infinity are quite good for its price. The whole setup for my 5.0 Infinity, 8" Infinity Subwoofer and a Denon A/V receiver is roughly $650. But they sound good
And you have/had very nice headphone rig
-
You can take the MC15's with you back home. They aren't too big and the price could be double in Asia.
My last 5.1 was Klipsch Promedia Ultra which was my first set of PC speakers many years back. I'll look into going 5.1 when I can afford my own house without the annoying neighbors.
I still have a headphone rig, but it's very modest compared to my old one. Audinst HUD-MX1 -> Audio Technica AD2000. Rarely used. -
@sillyhoney damn that headset is insane
what kind are they and how much
-
Thanks anodize for the quick reply
. These are by far the sexiest cans ever
-
-
^^ wish I was connected get some inside pricing lol
-
SillyHoney Headphone Enthusiast
but not so in headphone world.
Anodize, I will consider bring speakers back home. I don't know if I can handle them all since 2 and a half years in the US gonna leave me a lot of good stuff to bring home. But that's not really a matter since I got friends and family here
Damn, I'm starting to miss the US already. Everything is more available here, cheaper price, faster deliver, better warranty, easier FS/WTB, higher resale value
And you are not on Head-Fi? Just wanna say hi if you are active over there and I know you -
i can't imagine spending almost $1k on headphones!!
i have some Skullcandy LowRiders that cost me $80 when they were new, and i had to fight with myself to buy those! and i'm a total music freak, so i want good sound. but a thousand dollars... screw that. no headphones are worth that much no matter how good they sound. -
SillyHoney Headphone Enthusiast
You are wrong in the first place when buying SkullCandy
There are much much much much much better options than SkullCandy. Well actually SkullCandy is one of the worst option.
And $1k for a headphone is very different from $4k for a laptop. You can use your $1k headphone for 5 years then sell it for at least $800 as long as you baby your stuff. Sometimes you can sell it for a lot more than $1k (even 2-3 times the original price) if the headphone is good enough and discontinuedAnd that happened sometimes already. So you can spend few $k on audio rig, lay down and enjoy it for 5 to 10 years or 40 years... then sell it for just a bit less.
$4k laptop after 5 years? $400 is a reasonable price.
That being said, I'm also a computer enthusiast and I am always willing to spend few $k on computer too -
The thing is a $1k headphone would be essentially useless unless you have the proper equipments to back it up. So you're looking at another $1k(probably just enough for used) at least for budget amping/source.
SHOW me your M17X Cases/Bags and Workstations!!! *PICS*
