    SPDIF out problem

    guys, i really need help here.
    i have this alienware m17xr2.it has this spdif out on the jack.
    but when i check on idt control panel,no spdif out displayed.
    i've tried installed and reinstall back the idt driver, but still none.
    i want to use the spdif to connect it to my headset.
    Plz help me :frown:

    The R2 does not have a 3.5mm to S/PDIF jack like the R3 and R4 do. To get the surround sound from the IDT audio device one would need to use all four of the 3.5mm jacks on the side. One would output center speaker, one front speakers, one rear speakers, and the last one LFE. You would need to plug each of those 3.5mm jacks into their respective speaker sets or into an audio receiver which accepts a 5.1 analog input. Lo Siento.

    isn't the port number 2 from the right spdif out jack?

    Nope. Sure wish it was. I refer you to the R2 mobile manual page attached below:

    I did make a mistake, though. The subwoofer and center speaker are on the same 3.5mm port, not separate ports. The microphone port has no association with the analog surround sound.

    bro, i really don't get it.with u saying The subwoofer and center speaker are on the same 3.5mm port, not separate ports . Did u mean i have to buy a new speaker?sorry noob question.i already bought this razer chimaera 5.1.i want to connect it to my lappy.is there any chance of using optical tosslink cable?

    No, there's no adapter I've found that will go from the 3.5mm ports to optical. Each 3.5mm port handles 2 speakers, the center one handling the center speaker and subwoofer. There may be a sound card that connects to the notebook via USB. Then you can go from that USB sound card to out to optical.
