Im looking to upgrade my SSD to a 120GB or above. Currently I have my OS with some other applications on my boot drive which is my 60gb ssd. Is there a way to move my boot drive to the new SSD? So when I boot up to the new ssd it will be exactly like my 60GB but just bigger capacity?

Also is it smart to upgrade to a 920xm ES/QS? Or just get a 2760QM or 2860QM OEM? Or maybe just wait for the ivy bridge and hopefully someone can make it compatible with the r3's.

    thnx!

EDIT: Actually forget about the 920xm. Im now looking for a 2760QM & 2820QM/2860QM. Hows the preformance increase from a 2670qm? OR! Just not upgrade atm & wait for ivy and get a bigger SSD.

Cartman, if gaming is what you're mainly doing, your 2670 is more than adequate because the bottleneck will be your vid card.

PS, the 920 is not compatible in the R3. you'd need to get a 2920/2960xm

Yup I meant 2920xm and 2960xm. Ok, I see. So now Ill just go for the SSD. So the question now is if I get a bigger ssd I will have to do a fresh install or is there a way to move my 60GB to the new SSD without reinstalling OS and apps.

    Ill think about it.

USe an imageing software. People will say don't image an SSD for alignment purposes, but I've imaged my SSDs tons of times, and I've never had an issue. Just create an image backup of your 60GB drive, and image your 120GB drive with the 60GB image.

You can use programs like Norton ghost which come with Samsung 830 model ssds, which I have.
I'm about to sell my 128 GB and replace with a 256GB once it arrives, don't know if you are interested in a Samsung or a used ssd

I used EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition (freeware) and cloned my operating system onto the new SSD without any issues.

Ok thanks! I am looking for a good deal on a 120GB+ SSD atm. Will try the suggestions here when I get one. And for Cereallll when you get your 256gb you should put your 128GB in the nbr marketplace maybe ill buy it depends on the price and situation, and if I dont you will surely get someone to buy it because the samsung 830 is a nice ssd.

If you are imaging a smaller image to a larger SSD, make sure you extend the partitions otherwise you'll end up with a 60 GB partition and the rest as unallocated space.
