    Hi!

My m17x r3 is currently being assembled at the Dell factory, and I want to add an SSD and replace the ram memory.
I already did search on the parts I want to buy and they seem to be compatible with the m17x r3 (I've seen other members with an r3 in their sig with the SSD and RAM I want to buy). However, I feel more secure in asking it here directly with web pages, model numbers etc. to prevent me from possibly buying incorrect parts.

For the SSD I had this one in mind:
    Crucial CT128M4SSD2 128GB M4 SSD: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
It's the Crucial M4 with model number #CT128M4SSD2

For the RAM I had in mind to buy two sets of these (so I have 4x4 GB in total).
    Kingston PC3-12800 Arbeitsspeicher 8GB DDR3-RAM Kit: Amazon.de: Computer & Zubehör
    It's the Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz PC3 12800 RAM with model number #KHX1600C9S3K2/8GX

    Thank you very much!
I'm really looking forward for my laptop to arrive. :D

I use the HyperX 1600 memory and the Crucial M4 SSD (256GB version) in my R3, and both have functioned flawlessly. Be sure to update the M4's firmware to 0309 at your earliest opportunity. Crucial.com Product Downloads - Firmware Updates

I think that it's better to wait until you receive your AW and test it.
Meanwhile the prices can drop and new (and better) SSD can appear.

The reason I want to buy one before I receive my m17x r3 is because I want to avoid having to install everything again a week later. If I install the SSD immediately (after doing the backup stuff of course), then I won't have to work on it thinking that I'll have to install and configure everything again just a week or a month later. The RAM can wait some time indeed.
The current eta of my r3 is 20/3, do you think the prices will have dropped that much by then?

^^^ If you see a good deal on the M4 and Ram, just buy it. I've seen crazy sales on the M4 recently. The 128 gig M4 could have been had on newegg for $159 shipped. Prices are always dropping, but at some point, if you see a price you are comfortable with, buy it and then forget about it.
