    Good evening everyone :)

So I have been having some issues the last few days and I can't see to figure out what is going on. 2 days ago I was using my laptop when upon a restart I started encountering a few errors....first off the wireless stopped working, as if it was locked up....the icon loads by the clock with the spinning icon to indicate it is booting up but then it freezes and stops but the computer is still responsive. My MSE shuts off the real time scanning and will not let me re-enable it. Also if I try to access control panel or my computer the computer just endlessly loads and does nothing...it just keeps thinking and thinking and thinking without actually getting anywhere. Now my first thought was crap...I picked up a virus somewhere for the first time in years and it is hijacking my system. Rather then spend hours trouble shooting I just wiped my SSD and reloaded Windows 7 and proceeded to start re-installing but almost immediately the same symptoms cropped up again. I just assumed that I didn't format it well enough and proceeded to dig out my actual OS install disk vs just my restore CD's that load the system image because the restore DVD's don't let me format the drive before installing. My second thought was my second HDD that I use for games and storage had the virus and it migrated from my storage drive to my SSD and re-infected me again so I took out the HDD and installed to just the SSd and then updated and re-installed all my programs. A couple hours after clear sailing I put the HDD back in and it seemed that all was fine......until today. A tech was here to install a missing webcam that somehow got missed by Dell in my replacement system and upon reboot and testing...yep you guessed it, every problem returns immediately,...no wireless, not anti virus and accessing control panel or my computer just endlessly loads with nothing happening. We tried restarting in safe mode and as soon as safe mode tried to load the computer blue screened.....so i tried safe mode again and it loaded this time but upon shutting down the computer again...blue screen.

So .... being that both my SSD's have never had any problems until now possibly ? is this even possibly an SSD failure? I really thought virus's until the blue screens....but Windows installs perfectly and I am not seeing any hard drive problems in the bios or boot failures.....

Which gives an error blue screen? You are updating WIN? Try to remove all the updates installed since the error occurred

is it an aftermarket drive? If so I would contact the manufacturer as it sounds like failure to me. If not, contact dell and see if you can get a replacement. ;)

Lots of strange & seemingly random problems can crop up if one of your RAM sticks is faulty. If I were you I'd install Memtest86+ to a USB stick & run the program to see if you get any memory errors. It's a quick & easy test, and easily solved by replacing the affected RAM - it happened to me. If you have a lot of RAM installed, then the test can take an hour or so to run through, but when my memory was faulty it detected the errors immediately.

Memtest86+ will run off the USB stick on a restart, so the OS is not involved. (You would change your boot order in the BIOS to make sure that USB was the first in the list).

At first, just check if you have the latest firmware for your ssd, if not, just download it and flash to the latest.

Then, to fix your problem, i guess this is due to the cellul of your ssd drive.

You should have a look at partedmagic iso, do a ssd secure erase to completely cleanly erase your ssd, never use the format tool !!!

After that, just restore your system ;)

Try also to find a good guide through google to optimise your ssd for futur use (Disable defrag, windows search, prefetch, superfecth, enable trim...)

It is aftermarket unfortunately but it does have a 3 year warranty so I will RMA it if I have to :)

I will run memtest and see what happens...is it going to be any more thorough then the Dell diagnostics? I ran all of those to no failures.

I actually installed my spare 500GB HDD and then updated and erased the SSD through OCZ's tools so I hope *fingers crossed* that it did it properly heh. It has been about 24 hours since the last failure so I am keeping my hopes up haha.

I'm not familiar with Dell Diagnostics, but I think Memtest86+ is one of the 'Gold Standards' for memory error checking; it might be worth giving it a go, you have nothing to lose.

Memtest Is more thorough, run it overnight.

Also, OCZ isn't known to have the most reliable SSDs, what model is it?

Memtest is cool, the PSA can be accessed this way.
