Hey guys, I had an M14x before I replaced it with my current R2. I love my R2 (with the exception of it's battery life) but the only thing I miss about my M14x was the SSD I had in it (Crucial M4 64GB). The boot times were so much faster and it seemed like daily operations (opening programs, accessing files, etc.) was so much snappier. Actually, in general, the entire Windows experience felt snappier on the M14x, which is really disappointing for my R2 because it should be a LOT faster.

I understand that the R2 only supports SATA-II and not SATA-III like the M14x. In this case, would an SSD still be worth getting for the R2? If so, should I even bother getting another SATA-III SSD like the Crucial M4 I had before? Information on the matter would be great!

In terms of gaming and anything that requires graphic processing, my R2 satisfies but I just miss that crisp, smooth, and snappy Windows experience I got from my M14x and I want it back.

    Thanks!

I'm looking to spend <$120 so I was thinking about just picking up another Crucial M4 64GB as a boot drive with a few essential programs on it. Is that a good idea or could I save some money and just buy a SATA-II SSD?

For 120 you can get the 320 series 80 GB. I bought one on eBay (brand new in box) for 103 shipped. Also plenty of G2/G1 Intel for around 100, brand new, just gotta camp eBay.
