I'd suggest the drives with the following controllers:
1: Sandforce (OCZ,Patriot,Adata,Corsair)
2: Intel (Intel/Kingston)
3: Indilinx (OCZ)
Check this F100 Review
Note: The controller chip varies by model, can't just go by manufacturer.
Not all SSD drives are equal, be sure to stay away from drives that don't have good TRIM support and make sure you get one with good support.
I have an OCZ and their SSD forums have been great. There are little things such as disk alignment and other tricks that will help you get the most out of your SSD drive. Also, I would plan on making sure to use the SSD only for O/S and applications. I'd suggest using a second drive for your heavy write operations to help prolong the life and performance of the SSD.
There's also a great little thread about how to make sure your laptop isn't limiting the performance of the SSD. You can find it here intel series 5 chip SSD optimization
