It looks like it's running chkdsk. If you wanted to be safe, you should back up your important data. Does it do this every time it boots?

It did it the 3 times I booted today. It just started today too. I tried to let it run but it didnt run it.

Edit: If its relevant about a month ago my SSD's score dropped from 6.8 to 5.9 and in the notes about it says something about it not running optimally. Ill post a screen shot.

even 6.8 isn't that good for an ssd (but keep in mind tha WEI isn't that accurate anyway). It is a fresh install? did you install and image of a previous system on a new SSD?

For PM 800 SSD's, 6.8-6.9 WEI is normal.

I have a feeling your SSD is going bad. I would call Dell and have them replace it. They will send you a newer model PM810 (470) model. It will be much faster.

My system originally had 2 PM800's and they were terrible in performance. I had Dell replace both of them, and now they run perfectly with the newer model.

Just give them a call and tell them what you are experiencing.

6.8 is still above my 5.9 with 2x HD in raid 0 :) but yea, should be at least 6.9-7.0, call Dell

Just for reference, the PM810's score 7.6-7.7 by themselves, and in RAID, I score 7.9.

So there is definitely something wrong with it.

Thanks. I always thought it seemed slow from when I got it. It had transfer speeds when I copied files less than my hdd did. Ill call them this afternoon.

Edit: How can I get someone on the line who can speak good English. The last person I talked to I was completely unable to understand and had to end the conversation quickly.

Well I just got off the phone with another alienware rep and he kept insisting that there is no issue what so ever with my drive. I dont understand it. I have previously posted results on a thread here of a benchmark through crystal disk mark. Prople told me that my drive was running slow.

Edit: Heres a link to the thread I was refering to. http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...ge-technology-drivers-not-up-date-dell-2.html

Your read speed is ok....but your write speed is terrible. It should be up around 180-200MB.

There is definitely a problem with your drive. If they cannot see how an SSD is slow, then they need to learn how they work. It seems like they only care that the drive is still working or not.

Call them back and speak to someone above their level. That is usually how things work better. As soon as you get someone, just ask for a supervisor from the start. Tell them about Windows constantly running Disk Check everytime to scan for errors, etc, and let them know that the speed is constantly decreasing and is well below the advertised speed.

The program he tested my ssd with was a free trial software that would not allow you to see write speeds.

The disk check was finally able to run and it is no longer asking to run every time it starts. I think all still give them a call because they only ran a read test and said everything was fine.

What he ^^^^^ said. That is the best tool to use.

Have them use that test to check your SSD.

I plan to when I call them back tomorrow. One phone call will determine whether or not I ever buy dell again.

Edit: I also forgot to mention that alienware techs were suppose to call me back to finish trouble shooting my issue but I never got that call.

So let us know what you did.
Did you run a benchmark in crystal disk mark?

This time it was fairly easy, I immediately asked for the supervisor. Then I told him what my issue was and also told him a few other issues I had with other customers service reps. The first one only ran read tests and no write tests and the second one was suppose to call me back and troubleshoot the issue further but he never did. After that he had decided that the best way to resolve the issue was to send my computer to the depot but I politely declined because I need my laptop for my programming and CAD homework. So he decided that the next best course of action was to send me a replacement. That was about it.

Well I thought Id post a quick update. I just got my new drive, dell replaced my PM800 with a PM810. It is functioning better than my PM800 did when i got it. My WEI rating for the new drive is 7.5.

    Much better. :)

The PM800's were pretty much fail IMO. Over such a short period of time, their performance decreases drastically, especially if it was an earlier version PM800, that did not support TRIM.

All the PM810's (which are Samsung 470's) have full TRIM support in Windows 7 and have much higher read/write speeds.

I am glad they got it replaced for you bro. ;)
