I've decided to replace capacity with performance and put an SSD in my old R1. I have found an option on Newegg made by Crucial:

Newegg.com - Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC256MAG-1G1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Are there better or more preferred options out there? This SSD seems to be well reviewed but will the fact that it is SATA 3 cause any issues running in the R1? I may get 2 of them, how well do SSD's handle RAID?

I plan to purchase soon and will likely review the forums for tips on doing a fresh install of Windows 7 and adjusting it to maximize the performance of the SSD. From what I have seen so far, there a few things to do with TRIM and whatnot. But anyways, I'd like to hear some tips on purchasing and slecting an SSD for the R1. Thanks everyone!

That SSD will work, but it will be limited to SATA II speeds. Also for some info on the RAID 0 setup I'm using, you can click the link in my sig. You won't have to do the "JBB Tweak" since the R1 has no SSD issues, that was because the R2 had chipset issues that limit the R2.

    I would just get a Vertex 2

Thanks for the tidbits of info. I think I will go ahead with the SSD from Crucial. It's likely I will get two of 'em.

I just completed the installation and optimizing of my new SSD and Win7 is back on too. Holy cow this drive is fast!
