In the reading of a few thousand posts the last few days :) I noticed that some were returning certain SSD's that did not work in their R3. Is there a list of ones that work? Or are they just defective drives that were received? Is there an overall best? If this is already discussed elsewhere I would appreciate a little help in direction as well (not wanting to repeat something already done). I found a SSD discussion thread that was like 900 something pages but was for the whole site not just R3's. Thanks for the help!

I would believe the answer is any, but can't tell you for sure as I have an R2.

Would be best to get a ssd that runs on sata III at 6gb/s. C300, c400, vertex 3, Intel 510. Each one of these is better for different things so best to look into it and find the one that suits you.

^ As mentioned above, you should take full advantage of the SATA III offered by the m17x r3. If you want high sequential read/write, go with the Intel 510. If you want decent all around performance, c400 and c300 are pretty close. M4 is also coming out soon, so that might bring something to the table. Vertex 3 is king of benchmarking, but there are so few in consumer hands to know how it will stand up in terms of real world use.

I would wait a few more weeks before making the jump. By then, at least some measure of real world use and reliability will show up

The c400 and M4 are the same ssd with the same firmware they just have different branding. I think they will be released in the next week.

Sweet, thanks for the help all!! Just wanted to make sure. Part of me is still thinking a hybrid but I would love to have a least a 128 SSD for Windows and some other things. I've been out of the whole building/buying computers for a while. The last one I bought was a Dell E1705 with a Go 7800 in it :) I tried playing Crysis and I think it laughed at me :( Been spending weeks getting up to speed. Thanks again!

Has anyone tried the Intel 510 SSD in the R3? I am very interested in purchasing one and if anyone can share their experience with the 510 would be greatly appreciated.
