I plan on purchasing either an M14x or M17x R3 within the next week, which will be primarily used for Star Wars: The Old Republic. I may end up playing through Dragon Age 2 (and a future DA3), but SWTOR will probably be the most graphically demanding game I run.
Are there any M17x users on this forum who have testing experience with SWTOR and can share how the game runs on their system? I'm mostly just trying to determine which graphics card option I should be rolling with. As I understand it, 4GB RAM is perfectly suitable.
Any information on this topic would be highly appreciated! I want to make sure I get something that can keep the game looking and running great.

DA3 will prob be more demanding though. I don't know what engine they are gonna use or anything but DA2 had some high specs for its time (I think). -
I dont know that the most recent version of the beta had all the graphics options that the released version will have, but I turned everything up that was possible and was getting 70-90 fps at 1080p with a 6990 (which i wasnt using overclocked). Compared to bf3, swtor's engine is pretty lightweight. Oh, I was also running in balanced as opposed to performance and I'm not even sure the cpu fan came on
don't get me wrong, though... it looks good. -
I ran this last beta weekend. I have a 6990m and was running with everything turned up, (except some of the distance sliders). I am running a slight overclock, but for the most part I was pulling 50-90 FPS at 1080p. This was with a ton of people running around.
The R3 with either of the top two video cards will eat this game for lunch. -
No problem at all. I use a 6990M and SWTOR runs like a charm with max settings.

Im planning on buying an m17x for swtor also.. Sorry dont have anything new to had but happy about the info of this thread!
Btw, it will run smoother if you play for the empire -
Thanks all for the posts. Very happy to hear the news! I'm leaning towards the 6990.
i7 and 4g ram should be perfect yeah? -

Well, Im running an m17x r2, with an i7 840, crossfire 5870s, and a raided pair of 320gb hds.
I am reasonably sure crossfire was not enabled for the stress testing weekend last weekend, and I pulled 30-80 fps, with the low being the first login, and after a few logins, it improved to normally holding well above 40 in the worst areas, the 80+ was during cutscenes. Seeing 60 on the ingame fps counter was normal.
I jacked most setting up, except shadows, as I just prefer not to play nearly all games with them.
Stock drivers, no oc'ing. Additionally, even the low end framerates seemed very smooth, no stuttering or slowdown, I only knew the fps had dropped because I looked at the counter. At no time, even right when the server opened and 6 million of my closest friends were swarming each npc, did I ever see any slowdown.
You should do very very well with what you are looking at. -
Hi,
Is it possible to post a screenshot of your settings in swtor ? Because with the settings I use now I have some extreme result.
The average is about 50 fps with sometimes fames that goes below the 25fps
I do bencmark of the 6690m and the results are OK
Tks -

Does anyone know if there will be any higher settings on release? If I remember correctly, there were some options greyed out or unslidable.
My 6970 runs it maxed so far with no issues, but I'm honestly hoping they improve the graphics some more... -

Well, I know I maxed out the settings on the final Beta weekend, and still hung around 60 fps, with +/- 20 most of the time. The really big difference was the draw distance, even with max shadows on, I was still able to go to the Sith starter planet, and marvel at the incredible scenery with all the carvings into the mountains for as far as you could see, with smooth framerates. I think they really turned crossfire on and it was well supported this time around, I was really impressed. My wife got damned tired of being called over to look at something else, yet again.
I did participate in a world boss kill on Coruscant, which is the republic capital, and is all buildings. During a 30-40 man raid, I did drop into the teens at max, full shadows, etc, BUT, my camera got zoomed in by mistake, and I had remapped the mouse wheel to something else, and was stuck with it. Before I got zoomed in, it held over 30 easily, on absolute max settings, and all this is with AA forced to 4x through catalyst.
All in all, you can get spectacular results in this game, and even when you have to back off a bit, you dont have to give up much, in order to accomodate lower cards. I heard someone saying the had something like a desktop nvidia 220 (something like that low 200 number) and he was running 40-60 at medium high setting during the world boss kill.
p.s.- I have a friend playing on high settings, only shadows turned off, draw distance at about 3/4 on my old m9750, with a core 2 duo, and only one 9750gtx card running in it. Another friend I know ran it on an old gateway laptop with a core 2 duo and 9800gtx card, with high settings, no framerate complaints from him, though I didnt actually see his settings. Someone else played on an hp dv6, which doesnt even actually have a video card at medium-low settings. -

Does anyone get a bug that causes your casting bar is been showed as full when it is actually only half way until full? This is so annoying. I am using a 6990M.

Nope, I know there are quite a lot of people who are experiencing this bug since the last two beta weekend tests. And my latency is about 25ms in game.
ps:I am using official released version of 11.10 from AMD. -

Can anyone who is using a 6990M clarify about this problem?
