Hi my virtual friends, long time with out to see you. Happy New year to all!
I just changed the SSd to a Samsung 840 and now my laptop keep freezing after 5-10 minutes of star up. I have to turn off it manually.
I just upgrade the firmware to the lattes ver using the Samsung Magician software and it didn’t solve the issue.
As an additiona information, after the mouse and all app freeze, If I use the FN+key all these work fine
    any ideas or comments?

I am really disappointed about of the Samsung Support, I probably understood the reason why Samsung SSD sometimes are on sale.
The people chose other SSD rater than Samsung, I have using other brands and none of them have any issue on performance or support.

+1 for fresh install of windows.

A classic mistake people make when switching to an SSD is they use the image/backup of Windows that originated from their HDD. That's not good. During an OS nstall, Windows turns things on or off depending on the type of drive it's going on, since HDD's and SSD's work quite differently. If you just grab Windows from your HDD backup, and put it on an SSD, the OS may still think it's on a HDD, and therefore start to screw up. If you do a fresh install, Windows will see it's going on an SSD and align itself correctly. Not only will this improve performance, it'll ensure everything is stable.

Ran into this of coincidence, and registered here on the forum just now cause I used to have the same issue after installing that ssd. :hi2:

An uninstall of the preinstalled Alienware Autopsy software solved it - made my computer more stable than anything I've ever owned before. Dunno why but haven't looked back.

I just re-install the OS (clean installation) and now the computer is stable. No more freeze issues. The windows experience index went back to the original No. 7,1
    Thank you to all

How old was the OS when you installed it? I had Windows 7 on my 500 GB 840 (regular) for 1 year, never noticed any freezing.

I found that my 120gb 840 ssd freezes only when it's empty of data or half empty/used. If i keep it full of data it stops freezing my mouse indicator on the screen. Weird thing this is. So ..if you want it from it to stop making your daily use annoying by having your mouse pointer freezing on the screen just keep the ssd full of stuff!
