I bought an Alienware M17X R3 primarily to use when editing videos that reside on a SanDisk Ultra 32GB class 10 SDHC card (not a class 10 extreme)

Unfortunately, the M 17x card reader does not recognize the SDHC card.

I've checked the driver but it hasn't helped.

Dell has an article indicating that the Alienware card reader is incompatible with Class 10 SDHD cards...and mentioning the exreme class 10 cards in particlular.

I must confess that I am stunned that this machine won't work with a class 10 card when other (much cheaper) Dell laptops (e.g. Insprion R15) work perfectly with the same card.

Do others have a similar problem with class 10 (non extreme) cards?

I would appreciate any guidance, suggestions, work-arounds that folks can offer.

    Thanks kindly

    Hi,

I have the exact same SanDisk Ultra 32GB class 10 SDHC card I use with me 600D and oddly enough my M17x R3 detects it perfectly and I can use it well. However, if I safely remove device (mem card) and try to put it back again, it won't get detected until I reboot the system again..happens EVERY time.

Hope this helps and let me know if you need any testing from my end mate.

    Cheers.

Edit: I just realised I have the "extreme" version of the class 10 memory chip.

I have a Transcend 32 GB Class 10 SDHC card and it works fine in all my Alienwares.

    Try this driver
1st one on the list. It worked with my old R3.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm about to install an SSD with a clean install of Windows. I'll give the suggested drivers a shot to see if that helps.
    Thanks again..

This worked! Thank you very much.
