    Hey all,

I was adjusting the angle of my screen and suddenly it dimmed and there were bright lights at the top of my screen. It scared me for a moment but it returned back to normal; however, I now notice something that looks like burn in after the event in question. Attached is a photo, and if you kind of look at it from a distance, you can see there is a difference in light on the menu bar. excuse the blurriness as it was difficult to take a photo using my phone. Am I dealing with a burn in issue here?

    Thanks.

If the issue started while closing/opening/adjusting lid angle, then it's probably due to flex cable for LCD, maybe it's damaged, maybe it's just not seated properly, first thing I would do is open the lice and reseat all of the cable.

LED panels don't tend to need to be burned in, that looks like an error in one of the light diffusion layers.

What is an error in the light diffusion layer?

I am starting to believe that the overall brightness of the screen has gone down, while the little LEDs are shining as they normally would; however, I am not noticing the same effect at the bottom or sides of the screens (are there little LEDs around the entire screen?). I am hoping maybe a cable is just loose or something like VS said so is there a guide to opening the screen to check these things?

    Thanks.

More pics of the screen. Yeah it's probably not a burn in issue (wish there was a way to change the original post subject) but an issue with the LEDs at the top of the LCD panel.

Same issue as Nyrco here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m18x/716364-anyone-else-got-backlight-light-bleed.html

hmm, i would reseat the lcd cables. If you have never opened up the laptop it can be a challenge. Many videos online that show how to replace screens. If anything else that looks like an issue with the LED. If anything call AW and see if they can get a tech for you to replace your screen.

The light diffusion layers help spread the light from the point sources (LEDs) and spread it across the screen, you can see distinct points from the LEDs (they tend to be on the top) so it's not being spread right.

So after reading what was said on the other thread about the issue being "pressure-induced" and reading what you're saying about the light diffusion layer, perhaps the LCD screen pressing or pushing something? Maybe a quick teardown of the LCD could alleviate the pressure. Any teardown guides?
