I am considering upgrading my screen in my AW17 (2013)
Presently have a 1920x1080 but was wondering if there are any 3k or 4k screens available yet.

No nothing and if 4k screen available for a 17, i certainly doubt it's gonna work due to bios restrictions...

The 120hz display is a big improvement in gaming with much better contrast and smoother gameplay. There is a sticky detailing the work required, good luck.

While I'm not 100% certain, the IPS display from the AW17 R2 is now available for sale, and it uses an eDP connection, which I believe is found on the Ranger. So I'm thinking that should work.

It would actually be interesting to know if this would work. The only problem is Alienware hard codes all the damn part numbers in to the machines so chances are the machine just wouldn't boot with an unknown screen, but it would be cool to know for sure.

Given the cost involved (screen is going for $200 US, plus another $40 for the cable) I don't know that I want to be the guinea pig.

As much as I would love to upgrade, I am also unsure I want to be the guinea pig.

I've asked Eurocom if they could confirm that the screen is compatible. I'm sure they must have an AW17 lying around. They sell the panel for $195 USD.
